Steven Spielberg to Predict the Future in "Future Earth"

Steven Spielberg to Predict the Future in "Future Earth"Submit Comment
Any who has seen "Back to the Future: Part II" knows that Steven Spielberg doesn't have a clue about the future, but he is now teaming with the Discovery Channel to develop "Future Earth" for the channel.

The animated miniseries, developed by DreamWorks Animation, will look at what life on the planet will be like in 25, 50, and 100 years. It will utilize futurists, scholars and other "great minds of today" to determine how health and medicine, technology, the environment, the military, the economy and the media evolve.

In a statement, Spielberg said he was "excited to be back in business with DreamWorks Animation," and said the collaboration with Discovery gives them "an opportunity to bring exciting new experiences to take television audiences into the imagined future of planet Earth."

well at 25 years from now, at academy awards men come with tuxedo and women wear long dress..... and saw will be SAW XXII

For how long have "great minds of their days" been predicting the future? How many times have they been right? I can give Jules Verne some points, but he never tried to predict anything, he just had cool ideas.

nuclear war done
encoreyourface writes:

i think a mix of nuclear war and natural causes. not because of this global warming crap just natural disaster.

Is that Bradley Cooper in the background?

Any who has seen "Back to the Future: Part II knows that Steven Spielberg doesn't have a clue about the future" we still have 5 years to develop flying cars, nostalgic cafes with dead pop stars, self drying clothes, power laces and the best microwavable mini pizzas. he did get one thing right 3D

did you not see minority report....that movie has a pretty good prediction of the future....directed by Steven Spielberg.

Wall-e already predicted it.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHSHDekfjgrtlkgvsd

YES. Because hooking up psychics to a tv and then charging people for murder BEFORE THEY EVEN MURDER THEM is EXACTLY what the future will be.
SofaKing writes:

Read The Singularity is Near, Ray Kurweil predicts all sorts of bad ass stuff in the future and it all happens when we make a computer that is as smart as a human but has the processing speed of a computer... I know your all thinking SkyNet but it won't be like that, I hope. Its just going to be that we won't have to invent anything anymore because we'll have a computer do it for us and better. Interesting theories at least.

I think Mike Judge made the best prediction with Idiocracy
Forrest75 writes:

"Minority Report" used futurists as well and there is no WAY most of those things will bed in place in 2054. Jet packs? Pulse guns? Those ridiculous vertical roads? They would have had to start that construction already for those to be in place.
Kurskij writes:

Chinese everywhere.

Third World war between muslims and all the others (except french) (also known as war for resources).

Drastic changes in the economy due to lowering of main resources and billions of chinese.

Another wave of revolutions (starting with former Soviet Union countries and South America).

etc. etc.

Kurskij writes:
on April 9th, 2010 at 9:01:08 AM

Did I mention chinese? There's like 67847529872 billion of them right now.

And they're making something about "the future".

f*ck, the future itself is no more than a concept right now.
Nekros22 writes:

Wait, futurist? Like L. Ron Hubbard? So I can get paid millions of dollars by Spielberg to make some sh*t up and say it's an "educated guess?"

Dream job...
CCBlev writes:

Well the thing with it is, by the time Speilberg get round to doing this the world will be gone, 2012 is less than 2 years away, we'll be gone by then.

I can predict the future...Vin's Daddy will rape him again, and COC will get jealous it's not him.
Kindlegolas writes:

Sounds like it is just going to be a nothing political channel, and spielberg will preach on how "Global Warming" is destroying us and in 100 years we will not be here
Ranger writes:
on April 9th, 2010 at 11:17:56 AM

@jeff - I predict you're right.
triggax writes:

Those crazy magnetic roads are already being constructed in Japan...

And spooky you of all people should be able to realize the merit in Minority Reports future.. Sure the store with the pre cogs and pre crime was absolutely f*cking ridiculous.. But some of the technology was very well thought out and a lot of technology of the sorts is being developed today even.. Like the technology they used to make Tom Cruise NOT look like a midget.
NatG83 writes:

Prediction: some people think this is cool, and Spielberg gets money.

@ranger that was pretty damn funny
Ranger writes:

Funnier yet, is the existence of VinDandy. Were there ever a candidate to donate his body to the burn unit while he was still alive... he's it!
ian_918 writes:

Future Earth is the title... Why dont you just call it what it is. "This is exactly not whats going to happen because we are guessing"
Ranger writes:

Anyone watch: 'Nostradamus Effect'?

I've tried... I'll see it whilst channel surfing... try to keep an open mind. But in the first 5 minutes each time, they've taken some obscure written passage from somewhere (DaVinci: '... with waves crashing upon the shoreline') and make it out to he knowing the Earth would come to an end one day.

I suspect were someone to write: 'The sun in the sky will set one day on the last eve of life on Earth!' - they'd get on the show.

The 'end of the world' has been coming my entire life (the way VinDandy wishes it would every time he sees his Dad drop his shorts).

Ranger writes:

@ugot - look at the 2nd post in the 'Sex and the City 2' thread. He's just a lonely, lurking c*nt looking for attention because his mom never had time to hug him while he was playing with the 8-track player in the front seat of their station wagon, while she earned the rent in the back of it.
Ranger writes:
on April 9th, 2010 at 2:14:34 PM

And even look at the first post in this thread.

'first' - being so, anonymously, on a public blog site is the only mark that twat can make in life.

Hey VinDouche - save that 'first' sh*t for Perez's page, tweener.

Maybe he's just bored after his sexually-abusive foster parents took away his Zippo, thus he can no longer set the neighbor's pets on fire.
jeffw1978 writes:

I have another Prediction, COC will continue to be an angry Homo with a dead mom, and the world will eventually some year come to an end.

Sometimes not always akin to my wishes... but yeah, thought that last part was best forgotten (and the two before it). The first one (for me) is still timeless.
