Disney to Re-Introduce Mickey Mouse in Blockbusters

Disney to Re-Introduce Mickey Mouse in BlockbustersSubmit Comment
Disney has been very careful about not tarnishing the image of Mickey Mouse, since the character has been a representative of the company for years. But now that the studio has acquired Pixar and Marvel, Disney execs feel it is the perfect time to re-introducing Mickey to a new generation of moviegoers who know very little about the iconic mouse.

The idea is not only to drive more visitors to the theme parks and to sell more toys, but to also strengthen the brand. Part of the plan is to include Mickey in "Toy Story 3," where the character will be just one of the toys. He has no dialogue, but is said to be very visible and likable.

Other ideas have been to throw Mickey into "Iron Man 2," but filmmakers ran out of time to make that happen. Execs are now discussing ideas with writers to include the character in "Captain America." Sources say that Mickey might actually be live-action and human-size, but will only appear in a possible dream sequence where he will give Steve Rogers crucial advice. Once again, the idea is to make the character likable.

All this will eventually lead to a Mickey Mouse movie, which is tentatively set for around 2013. No word on whether it will be live-action or CG.

How the hell do they think putting Mickey Mouse into a Marvel comic movie will help it? Way to f*ck up both movies.

@sc_kg - I too hope that this is an April Fools day joke. If not then everything else is.

Definitely an April fools day joke. I heard one earlier that vindandy prefers boning girls than being boned by his own dad

April fools everyone.

Disney is evil alright, but Steve Rodgers taking advice from human-sized Mickey Mouse?

That's Dr. Hunter S. Thompson kind of insane sh*t going on right here.

CA: Mickey?

MM: That's right, hoho, I'm Mickey! Hoho!

CA: Mickey, what should I do?

MM: Hoho! Go skull-f*ck Red Skull, hoho!

CA: f*ck YEAH!

Audience: Adorable!!!!

Yeah- especially that source is "various". You use this word in articles when you take informations up from your ass.

Who really cares ?

The way Blockbuster is going, they'll be closing in a couple of months, a year or two at the most.

And Mickey has always seemed a bit pervy anyway.

Got to be an April Fools article. Unless Captain America likes to ingest massive quantities of peyote on the battlefield. But even then he'd probably be more likely to have a conversation with his "dog" about the size of that chicken.

I'm sorry but this is friggin' retarded! If you are going to do an April Fool's joke, you should at the very least make it believable and not totally obvious!

The Joss Whedon possibly directing The Avengers is a clever April Fool's gag because it actually seems like it could be believable. This is complete nonsense!

Note: the following comment by me is not taking this article seriously, but more as like a fantasy, taking this as an april fools day joke.

With that said, I can see this happening in a sense.

Certainly not with Mickey in a Mufasa-like dream sequence with him telling the Cap some spiritual advice, HELL NO
but as a small cameo, such as two people in an american movie theater playing one of his early shows, which were big especially around WW2 time.

I have to admit the Captain America one made sense. I mean he was born in that era where Mickey was starting to get his strive. And Captain America has always been about America in every way, including the characters created for it. Mickey is of course, in a way, the ultimate moral character in cartoons the way Superman is to comics for DC. I know it sounds goofy, but I really believe this makes sense. Besides, Captain America was a bit of cheesy basterd in his talk of American ideals so brining in the ultimate cheesy idealistic animated character just solidifies who Captain America is. Not that that's a bad thing considering how screwed America has been lately. I think the country needs that again. And if putting the audiences face to face with America's comic book symbol and America's cartoon symbol, then that's exactly what they should do.

Yeah- no kid knows anything about that mouse. "Micky...who- Micky the Hippo?"
Disney has really let their marketing slide on this character.
