Disney Confirms Tim Burton's "Sleeping Beauty" Spin-Off

Posted: March 24th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Disney Confirms Tim BurtonSubmit Comment
Two months ago, AICN reported that director Tim Burton (Alice in Wonderland) was planning to develop "Maleficent," another live-action/CG feature film, this time based on the classic "Sleeping Beauty" fairy tale.

THR has now confirmed the news, adding that Linda Woolverton (Alice in Wonderland) will be writing the script. Disney has yet to make an official deal with Burton, as it considers hiring Woolverton the first step in a long process.

The plan is not to just re-tell the same story; the new movie will instead focus on the villainous Maleficent, who curses the infant Princess Aurora to prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday after not being invited to the baby's christening.

She is often viewed as the most powerful and sinister of the Disney Villains, frequently acting as their leader in many crossovers.

Really wish Burton could come back to the dark side. All this Disney crap makes him losing his touch.

huh......try and find and actress with bigger tits this time or does tim burton have something against big tits, cause after reviewing a few of his films, there has not been a big amount of large tatas.

God enough with the fairy tales already!

Sounds great! I'd lost my faith in Burton after Planet of the Apes and the Chocolate Factory, but Alice in Wonderland renewed that faith. Sleeping Beauty has plenty potential for creepiness.
Did you know in some of the oldest versions of Sleeping Beauty, she was raped while she was alseep and didn't wake up until a baby was born, crawled out and bit her on the nipple? The "prince" was just a guy who had heard about a comatose girl left unguarded and decided to get a piece.

so what are they just gonna let him remake every disney classic? whats next The lion king with simba as a pink flufy thing? with a gray face? i mean seriously im not a fan of burton when he does franchises(i:e batman, charlie and the chocolate factory, alice and wonderland, and more) he is better when he does his own original stuff(i:e nightmare, corpse bride, and so on)

tim burton hasn't made a good movie since sleepy hollow, and with this announcement it looks like that trend is officially.....going to continue.

am i the only one thinking"i don't give a flying f*ck about these kind of Disney movies?"

@Billofill: Really? I think Burton's Batman-movies are great. I actually prefer them before Batman Begins. And he has done awesome things after the Batman-movies as well.
