Tim Burton to Direct 3D "Addams Family" Movie

Tim Burton to Direct 3D "Addams Family" MovieSubmit Comment
Deadline is reporting that Tim Burton will next direct a 3D stop-motion animated film based on Charles Addams' original cartoon drawings of "The Addams Family."

Other than being inspired by the same source material, the animated feature is unrelated to previous incarnations of Addams' work, the 60s TV series, the two '90s feature film comedies that Barry Sonnenfeld directed with Raul Julia and Anjelica Huston, or the Broadway musical opening this spring with Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth in the starring roles.

Burton is expected to provide much of the visual look of the film himself. A search for a writer is currently underway.

Burtonís experience in animated film is extensive. He last directed "Corpse Bride," and is making a feature version of "Frankenweenie," the 1984 30-minute short film Burton made about a boy who reanimates his dead dog. He also recently produced "9," as well as the delightful stop-motion animated "The Nightmare Before Christmas," for which he wrote the story.

"There's something about that fat kid" - thought Vin and took a vacuum cleaner.

Tim, make something original. We know you love gothic and darkness and sh*t, but... you're one of the last visionaries and originals out there. Why f*ck it up so stupidly?

Seems like a great fit to me.

Oh no... This 3D remakes will turn all directors look the same with each other, like Agent Smiths. James Cameron for "Titanic 3D" and "Avatar" re-release, and now Tim Burton for "Addams Family"? The only reason "Alice" movie has a great box office is because it is 3D and 3D costs 5 bucks more than usual tickets- and Hollywood thinks this is a 'positive effect' on box office? Go f*ck yourselves!

Usually I hate remakes, but a new movie about "The Addams Family" in stop-motion sounds great.

Besides, I liked "Alicia".

f*ck, I just saw this a few days ago. Raul Julia (RIP) is still amazing as Gomez Addams. f*ckin' hilarious.
Initially, Tim Burton was supposed to direct the original remake in the 90's. So since the tables have turned to his seating arrangement. I can see this working out, especially as a stop-motion. Might as well do another of his famous animation collabo. Henry Selick to direct and Tim Burton to produce. I'm in!!!

Dear god Burton get a new gig. you wanna be goth and kooky go break out the Cure tshirts stuffed away in your mom's attic and hang out in the mall. Try something challenging for a change - Even David Lynch made "the straight story"

Barry did a good job with the first film- I don't think there's much more need to do anything more. Leave the stop motion to the now cgi Aardman/Disney folks.
