Ian McKellen Says "The Hobbit" Will Begin Filming in JuneSubmit Comment
Ian McKellen has just confirmed on his official site that "The Hobbit" prequels will soon start filming, despite all the financial issues that MGM is going through.

He said: "THE HOBBIT's, two films, start shooting in New Zealand in June. Filming will take over a year. Casting in Los Angeles, New York City and London has started. The script too proceeds. The first draft is crammed with old and new friends, again on a quest in Middle Earth. The director Guillermo del Toro is now living in Wellington, close to the Jacksons' and the studio in Miramar."

The two films will be shot back-to-back and will be released a year in December 2011 and December 2012.

@johnny, i might run a book on whos name will be linked today with Captain america

5-1 it's someone from that show Glee because we are getting to the bottom of the barrel now (sorry glee fans)

Glee's awesome- to sing along too I download all the songs as they're awesome (yes chick music) but the show? It's only able to run one "complex" storyline at a time! I mean come on, even Hollyoaks manages better!

*Shudder*...Hollyoaks.

'Guillermo del Toro is now living in Wellington, close to the Jacksons'

I can see him replacing Michael in the Jackson 5.

@Trailer: As long as its Jane Lynch from Glee then its fine by me.

@ Barley & Ricky , who would have thought Hollyoaks would get a mention on here , storyline i just thought they made it up as they went along !! lol

Jane Lynch as Captain America its a step up from channing tatum anyway

Ian Mckellen is senile.

A year to shoot a 4/5 hour film? nah hes up to something else....more scenes for Lord of the Rings? or i'm guessing alot of the Silmarillion will be included as extencive back story padding out the films. The book only has just over 300 pages, tiny in book terms and they are draging that out on its own over two films? All the extra stuff about Gandalf and the necromancer is fleeting so some serious rewriting has been going on.

As long as they start shooting the movie already!

Even if they start filming in June, it's very unlikely that the first part will be released in December 2011. There's just not enough time.
encoreyourface writes:

i'm really hoping The Hobbit will be as good as the trilogy ...

and a Silmarillon film would be cool, but hard to do ...

He's said a lot of things regarding the Hobbit that haven't come true. Never trust a man who thinks c*ck is tasty.

@ Trailer and Ricky:

If they keep coming up with all these crazy names for Captain America, perhaps Jane Lynch from Glee would be the better choice.
