Almost a year ago, we learned that Paul Bettany (Legion, Creation) had signed on to star in "Priest," a horror Western that's an adaptation of a TokyoPop comic book. And now the Canadian version of Entertainment Tonight unveiled a first look at the new film. Check it out below.
"Priest" is set in a world ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampire and follows a warrior priest (Bettany) who turns against the church to track down a murderous band of vampires who have kidnapped his niece. Cory Goodman (The Brood) wrote the screenplay.
This is now the second film for Bettany and director Scott Stewart, with the first being "Legion" which was Stewart helming debut. "Priest" is scheduled to hit theaters on January 14th, 2011.
The premise sounded cool when I first heard about it, but the footage looked quite iffy. Paul Bettany is better than this B-grade stuff.
Legion was ok until the ending, which sucked pretty bad. Could have been so much better, specially if they used Doug Jones properly. But I must say that Kevin Durand is quite underrated. Hopefully he gets some bigger roles soon.
ok let me say that this movie is not a rip off of anything else but it is bs that they made this the way that they did. they changed everything... for those of you that dont know priest was origanally a japanese manga with an amazing story THE TATTOO OF THE CROSS ON "pauls" face was actually supposed to be a scar carved in by the devil. do yourselfs a favor and get on google and search priest manga and read at least the first one or two books. even reanding thoser 2 alone youll understand the basic story of ivan issacs "paul bettanys" character and youll say wow they completly scrued up an amazing manga and ruined any chance of amn amazing movie if they only fallowed the story of the manga! scott stewart.... i doubt youll read this but your gonna have a LOT of people hateing you... more then you allready do!
I noticed that you guys are talking about how the movie seems different from the original graphic novel. There’s actually a new manwha coming out in April called Priest: Purgatory that Min-Woo was involved with. It is meant to act as a bridge between the graphic novel and the movie.
