Robert Rodriguez to Reboot His Own "Spy Kids" Movies, Not Making "The Jetsons"

Robert Rodriguez to Reboot His Own "Spy Kids" Movies, Not Making "The Jetsons"Submit Comment
During a press conference at the SXSW film festival, director Robert Rodriguez revealed that his fourth "Spy Kids" movie will be a reboot of the franchise, similar to the way "Casino Royale" re-invented the James Bond films.

He said: "[Spy Kids 4 is] like the 'Casino Royale' to 'For Your Eyes Only.' The other movies were the 'For Your Eyes Onlys.' I love 'For Your Eyes Only,' the Roger Moore James Bonds. This is the 'Casino Royale.'"

Rodriguez added that the story will take place ten years later and will cast all new kids for the leads. And unlike the first three films, the reboot will use less green screens and CGI. "It's going to be more like the first ones," he explained. "It'd be very practical, very realistic."

Finally, Rodriguez revealed that he is no longer attached to "The Jetsons" movie.

"Desperado", Rob, "Desperado", remember?

Buscemi: The stranger shot him, walked over to the bartender, paid, and left.
Short Bartender: So the bartender lived?
[laughing]
Short Bartender: The bartender never gets killed!
Buscemi: But as the stranger neared the door...
[Bartender pulls a shotgun. Stranger shoots bartender]
Buscemi: No man, bartender got it worse than anybody.

Remember, Rob? You wrote this. You're the only man who got Jessica Alba to get half-naked and dance around the f*cking pole in a movie that was beyond awesome even without that.

The f*ck, Rob?

I would rather watch a reboot of Desperado with Carlos Mencia and Jennifer Lopez as the leads.

yeah, what the world needs right now is another Spy Kids movie, let alone another gay reboot.

at least have the one main character chick get it in the bum ...

@ Kurskij - Well said. After his last couple of suckfests, it's hard to believe he used to make movies like El Mariachi and Desperado.

I say what we all do is get our sin city comics, create an alliance and at the next film festival or the next place Rodriguez is at, we each slap him with our comics, until he gets the picture

trailertrash writes:

Great point on for your eyes only (my fav bond movie) very underrated, Spy Kids 4 dont think so why can't you just move on to sin city 2 instead
Freudian_Nightmare writes:

Stop doing kiddie pics Rob. They suck, and in the wrong way neverthless. Make Sin City 2 and call it a day.

he pays his bills and is able to make the movies he wants to by putting out these films. the faculty, spy kids, shark boy and lava girl, and shorts give him his money to make his good movies.
