David Fincher, James Cameron, Zack Snyder Confirmed to Direct "Heavy Metal" Posted: March 12th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Some of the biggest filmmakers in Hollywood have been talking about a remake of "Heavy Metal" for several years now. It was first set up two years ago at Paramount Pictures, but was eventually dropped. Deadline is now reporting that David Fincher is shopping a more appealing version, and has both James Cameron (Avatar) and Zack Snyder (Watchmen, 300) signed on to direct a segment of the film. Fincher is also directing one. And the entire thing will be in 3D. "Heavy Metal" is inspired by the '70s science fiction fantasy magazine, which previously was the basis for a 1981 film and a 2000 sequel. This version will consist of eight or nine individual animated segments, each by a different director, all of them infused with the spirit of the erotic and violent storylines that defined the magazine. The project is now is search of financing and distribution.

Please pick Zack Snyder. I've never been interested in Fincher's work and Cameron is losing his touch.

"erotic AND violent" --- sounds like first date sh*t with Zoe Saldana.

The original is one of my favorite animated films. The soundtrack has been a staple of my CD and mp3 players for over a decade. Hopefully this one will integrate the music as well as that one.
I'll see this.

Trey Parker and Matt Stone gave an excellent homage to "Heavy Metal" in South Park's 2008 "Major Boobage" episode.

lets hope they have a killer soundtrack since metal music plays a huge part in these animations.
i think david fincher is the right man for this i remember reading a interview where he said that during the time that he was writing fight club he had the "downward spiral" by nine inch nails in constant rotation, and that it played a huge part in the influence of that said film.

If they can make it as good as the original and not let the censors push them around, then I'm in.
