Variety Being Sued for Negative Review Posted: March 11th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Last week Variety posted their negative review of "Iron Cross," but later took it down when Calibra Pictures wanted to spend $400,000 to promote their movie on the site and magazine. Many sites on the internet immediately started bashing Variety for selling out, which caused the magazine to put the review back up. Now the production company is suing Variety, claiming that its sales representatives "induced" them to spend the money on a "for your consideration" Oscar campaign for their movie, then publishing a "scathing ... inaccurate and hostile" review that "seriously undermined, if not completely destroyed" its Oscar chances. Calibra Pictures claims that Variety said that "Iron Cross" had a real chance of being included among the Oscar nominees, although no one from the sales staff had actually seen the film.

I say iron cross should be sued for being so stupid. Promoting itself in a magazine. Hello?! Noone reads magazines anymore.
And in case they haven't heard, vanity fair is racist. Did you know they have a cover with just all white girls? No black girl to be seen for miles

Seems like they are pissed no one saw their movie and try to recoupe some its loss by suing. First of all a magazine have the right to publish any review they want and just because you bought some ad-space doesn't change that. And, secondly, taking down a review because of they are buying ad-space is selling out and no selfrespecting magazine should do that.
Oh, wait. It was just Vanity Fair.

This production company just sounds like it is run by twats.

Vanity Fair is just lucky to not be out of business by now.
BTW hasn't Roy Scheider been dead for a while now? Is he gonna be the next Tupac and keep releasing sh*tty movies for the next 10 years? What a bullsh*t way to end a great career. These Iron Cross leeches should drop this crazy suit and try not to taint Scheider's legacy anymore than they already have.

This is variety, not vanity fair.

Wow, complete f*cking morons. What's next? Someone suing McDonald's for not selling Whoppers?
Or Tyler Perry for not having any visible Majority actors in his films?

To be honest, their movie doesn't look interesting in the least.

yo J-Boy were talking variety not vanity fair, and trust me the variety campaigns make a huge deal about who gets nominated in the end.
Were you surprised about Blind Side BP nomination or Harry Potter Cinematography nomination? I couldn't get through a day at the office with out seeing 3-4 For your consideration posters for those movies.

Wow... someone in the entertainment biz 'selling out?' Say it isn't so!

A magazine whose editors seem to change their opinions in the face of money...
... Wow! Chocking! what else is new?
Variety is garbage anyway. They've decayed from the times when they were considered a reference in terms of show business journalism, and now they're nothing but a glossy tabloid.
Nevertheless, their slanguage has had an unquestionable impact in modern day entertainment news.

sounds pretty jacked up for Variety to dupe a filmmaker like that, when they knew they were going to pan it. Are we all getting punked here? Because everyone keeps talking about Iron Cross
