Paramount Working on a Book of Genesis Movie in 3D

Paramount Working on a Book of Genesis Movie in 3DSubmit Comment
Deadline is reporting that Paramount Pictures and former Walden Media co-founder Cary Granat are working on "In the Beginning," a 3D telling of the creation story from The Book of Genesis.

The $30 million film will focus on God taking one week to create the world, starting with creating light on the first day and culminating with Adam and Even on the sixth, before resting on day seven.

The project will try to attract family and faith-based audiences, but the big question will be regarding the casting. Who will play God and what race will Adam and Eve be?

David Cunningham will be directing from a script by John Fusco (Hidalgo). The plan right now is to put together a pitch (with FX visuals) in hopes of getting a green light. Stay tuned.

Nah, Sam L Jackson..
OR
Scarlet Johanson , since Dogma taught us that God is a woman.

Scarlet should play eve...so we can watch her be naked for the whole movie... *drools*

They should make a movie called "The Truth" and it will show us going from a slimy fish crawling onto land and slowly becoming man over millions of years... In 3D
Scrooge McDuck writes:

I would only see this if they took an Ingorlious Basterds-esque liberty with the plot and make it awesome or something.

Or unless Eve is hot.
encoreyourface writes:

f*ck ... don't adapt that story you dumbasses, all the 'anti-predigest pieces of sh*t will be screaming at the top of their lungs going "Adam and Eve are BLACK!" "NO! they're WHITE!" "they better not show Gods face becuase nobody knows what he looks like!" etc, etc.

not only that but it will probably be a flop unless they go full nude ...

What about that date? Are you still up for it? I'll buy the popcorn, and you give a rim job to the manager for a free flick. But...If you are still a man with an on-going sex change operation. My friends I mentioned to you before are still interested in making your *sshole look like the inside of a carwash. Just picture their penis as the car, going through a premium wash. Interested?

takai writes:
on March 9th, 2010 at 12:30:22 AM

Wow. I'm impressed by the massive surge of maturity this headline caused.

As for this film, even being a person of faith, I think it is a ludicrous idea. For one, religious people are idiots. Two, any credible, intelligent creationists (yes, they do exist) does not believe that God created everything in one literal week.

Man, people are retarded.

But hey, maybe they'll put out a sequel!

It'll be called, "The Book of Darwin"!

Yeah!

You know the story right?

It's about this guy who proposes these theories regarding the origin of humanity, and people totally dig it! But the best part is the twist, when you find out that all of the 'facts' used to support the theories and even the theories that EVOLVED from the original theories, aren't actually facts at all! They're just guesses that don't even have a proven scientific connection in the slightest!

Oh man. I LOVE that story.

Freudian_Nightmare writes:

I actually think this could be a good movie, if it weren't for the fact that they are making it for the families and people with faith. The Bible isn't exactly PG, so therefore should not the movies be that either. And religious people will complain no matter what the outcome may be, so therefore is it unnecessary to try to please them.

And the Book of Revelations would be one bad-ass movie.
vaodsi writes:
on March 9th, 2010 at 2:08:00 AM

Dude this could have potential if it was really visual..... except for the 30 million budget.

vaodsi writes:
on March 9th, 2010 at 2:17:13 AM

if it was hard R and showed the beauty of the human body in it's intended glory.....
but it won't
there will be lots of conveniently placed twigs and fig leaves.
and the thing is i think the concept has potential. Imagine if the Michelangelo's paintings in the sistine chapel moved and were 3D. That would be a trip! I'd totally go see something like this if it were going to be a beautiful adaption that admired the artistry of the story.... Just like i'd see a big budget version of pretty much any creation myth, legend, religion etc. Visual representations of religion have given us some of the most beautiful works of art ever. But THIS will not be that. It will be a 30 million, boring, flacid family film, bereft of art or intrigue, with no heart, soul, or point but to make money off the bible belt who WILL NOT SEE IT if it contains any trace of nudity... So i think it's a missed oportunity.. cause pump 150 million into it and take off the restrictions and you might get something very intriguing and beautiful that wouldn't make any money....
so this will be more like the HALLMARK version of genisis.
vaodsi writes:

takai... hahahhahah good point man.
it's hilarious hearing people bashing religion when evolution, unfortunately, is just as fraudulent and preposterous.

Morgan Freeman as God

and get some Middle Eastern people or African people to play Adam and Eve, it would be most accurate in sense since the garden is believed to have been aroun Baghdad (this all counts of course that the bible ain't complete BS). Also having them black or middle eastern will no doubt piss of the evangelical christians who i love to make fun of

@Ranger (one of the few able to make me break my word) -

"how do we know a 'week' to God wasn't a billion or so years our time?"

That's exactly what I'm saying. I'm glad other people grasp that concept too.
rocketman writes:

Are the going to have the balls to show Eve getting f*cked by the Devil or are they going with the pg 'apple' cop-out?
Freudian_Nightmare writes:
on March 9th, 2010 at 8:52:56 AM

@vwkombi: Have they found the actual gospel or is it just the rumored contence? Well, that won't actually matter. If the original isn't as good as it's rumor, I prefer the latter.

I only bash religion because the idea that those selfrightous doorknockers actually would have right, pisses me off.

It's definitely okay to bash religion. You can't have time to feel sorry for every stupid fairy tale thing some moron is willing to believe in. The world would be much better off if everyone had the capacity for critical thought and logic. Religion is pretty much the antithesis of that.
vaodsi writes:
