Kevin Costner Re-Teaming with "Waterworld" Director for Spy Comedy

Kevin Costner Re-Teaming with "Waterworld" Director for Spy ComedySubmit Comment
"Waterworld" director Kevin Reynolds is re-teaming with Kevin Costner for a spy comedy called "Learning Italian," which is set to shoot at the Bavaria Film Studios and around southern Germany.

Costner will star as a CIA agent stationed in a coastal town in Italy assigned to monitor a KGB agent. When both are called back to their respective countries, they decide to concoct a fake threat so they can continue to live in Italy.

Reynolds and Costner have also previously worked together on "Fandango" and "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves." It is rumored that during the last two weeks of filming "Waterworld," the two men had a dispute resulting in Reynolds walking off the set, leaving Costner to complete the film.

lets hope that this new movie has nothing to do with water, fish or even mutants...

Too bad southern Germany looks nothing like Italy. There's not even a coast.

What a great idea. Their 1st comedy together (Waterworld) had me in stitches.

Yes, the dream team reunites for what is soon to be a summer blockbuster. What the f*ck is this guy thinking, Costner cant make a good movie to save his life since Field of Dreams.

Waterworld freaked me out as a child!

I didn't mind his performance in '3000 Miles to Graceland' come to think of it.

costner should make more movies like mr.brooks...
Syman404 writes:

I rather enjoy some of his movies.

Waterworld
The Postman
Mr. Brooks
3000 Miles to Graceland
Dancing With Wolves
JFK
The Untouchables
etc...

Good movies, some better than others obviously but still worth a watch.

@VDOD - Field of Dreams - one of my all-time favs!

And Syman's list is pretty good. My opinion, I'd only drop Waterworld, and Mr. Brooks I haven't seen (yet), so can't say.

I've talked with some that have worked with Costner. He's kind and down to Earth... and I think that comes through in his movies. He doesn't always make the popular, commercial stuff - but he has the balls to make the other stuff, and I commend him for that.

Gotta say the plot sounds fun.

eh ... sounds interesting i guess, haven't seen water world in a while, perhaps i should watch it again ...

Ranger writes:

@encore - save your time. It's not worth watching again.
Kurskij writes:

Well, Waterworld is still a guilty pleasure for me.

But be careful with new projects, Mr.Kostner. This one sounds like a hit a miss. Most likely a miss though.

BTW, I thought it was Kostner who actually directed Waterworld cause he had some sort of conflict with Reynolds.

@Ranger- you mat be right, it was a while ago since i watched it ... but if i have nothing better to do it may either be waterworld or another Nightmare on Elms Street .... (guilty pleasure as they say ...)

I never knew why people gave Costner so much grief as a kid, but when you actually look at the films he has under his belt, his performances are quite exceptional.
f*ckin' loved him in A Perfect World, and that's only the tip of the nipple.
masht7 writes:

When Waterworld came out I thought the film was going to be about LohCOC shaving her ranga vag and squirting c*m out. But I read Kevin Costner was in it and I was like "oh god thank you."
BuddyBoy writes:

Costner was very good in Open Range, Wyatt Earp, The Untouchables, No Way Out and awesome in JFK!! and Field Of Dreams.
