Mickey Rourke in Talks for "Conan the Barbarian" Remake

Mickey Rourke in Talks for "Conan the Barbarian" RemakeSubmit Comment
We've been hearing rumors (started by LatinoReview) that Mickey Rourke (The Wrestler, Iron Man 2) was offered the role of Conan's father in the upcoming "Conan the Barbarian" remake. THR has now confirmed that Rourke is in negotiations to join the cast.

The story sees Conan (Jason Momoa) embark on a quest to avenge the slaughter of his people including his father, Corin (Rourke). Marcus Nispel (Pathfinder, Friday the 13th) is directing the new film which is set to begin filming on March 15th in Bulgaria.

In addition, SuperheroHype has learned that Sean Hood (Halloween: Resurrection) has been brought on to rewrite the script first written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer (Sahara, Dead of Night).

Millennium Films likely hired Hood for "Conan," in order to keep the same tone as their "Hercules" project, which is also in development.

He should play Conan and not Conans Father.

I don't remember his people being slaughtered in the pulps. Don't these motherf*ckers ever even take a little f*ckin PEEK at the source material???

I called this a long time ago.

"In addition, SuperheroHype has learned that Sean Hood (Halloween: Resurrection) has been brought on to rewrite the script first written by Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer (Sahara, Dead of Night)."

How the f*ck does the guy behind Halloween: Resurrection get called in to "rewrite" anything? This can't be a good sign if this is the joker they call on to save the day.

Jeff Goldblum meets black daughter. Total Lost World situation. Movie Producer = "Hey, um, obviously it's an isolated mountain tribe of white people but maybe Conan's Mom pops out a samoan baby cause of magic. Or a trip to jamaica. Whatever, line up some more coke!!!" The dude who wrote Halloween: Resurrection is polishing up this script. Really? Isn't hiring a turd polisher admitting what your script is. A dirty turd. Pathfinder was fun, but Nispel lost me after the terrible Friday the 13th remake. Hopefully Rourke reconsiders. His career is doing well. Don't fall into the trap of a sh*t film destroying your comeback. Just do "Marv: a one man" play off broadway. Have Frank Miller write the script and it's just Marv acting f*cking nuts for 2 hours. At intermission he can come out into the lobby and freak out because the concession stand doesn't have no f*cking jujubees!!!!

Mickey... You've done stupid sh*t before and that forced you to disappear for 10 years. Now you're at the top of your game. Iron Man, Oscar Nom.

Well, of course, do a f*cking Conan movie with Conan played by jamaican (or hawaiian) dude and produced by people who gave us Cyborg-Hunter III!!!

@SACdaddy- i agree, that can't be a good sign ....

although i did like the new Friday 13th (if that's the one they are talking about) so that brings my hopes up a little bit, but that movie was a good slasher at best so i don't see any legendary movie being talked about for years, but a failure being criticized for weeks ...

This remake is looking worse by the minute.

The tremendous mistake it was to cast Momoa (what kind of f*cking name is that anyway?) for the leading role may never be compensated with anything else, regardless of other actors they may bring on board.

Rourke would be a good addition, but apparently, he gets killed in the first minutes, so what's the point in that?

Bringing him on board just to have his name in the credits is pathetic.

Like SAC said, I see an epic failure here.

... just like COC's incestuous upbringing.

Not to brag, but I'm also being offered a role in Conan. I'll have to give my answer till tomorrow.
