TV Station Sued for Inappropriate Commercial Breaks

TV Station Sued for Inappropriate Commercial BreaksSubmit Comment
The Swedish Broadcasting Commission (SBC) recently filed a suit against the TV4 network for taking commercial breaks during the most thrilling moments of "Leon (The Professional)" and "Clear and Present Danger." The suit said that this action violated the "integrity and the value" of the films.

The court has ruled in favor of SBC, but TV4 successfully appealed, claiming that the film's local distributors had allowed the breaks. The case was then taken to the Supreme Administrative Court which sided with SBC.

The channel has a history of controversy regarding commercial breaks. The most infamous is the break made in the middle of the rape scene in "Deliverance." It's so bad, that some filmmakers refuse to have their movies shown on the network.

"Leon", as well as "Deliverance" should only be watched on DVD. Period.

Lets' hope they sue AMC next. It shouldn't take 3 1/2 hours to watch Goodfellas.

@ WV - Couldn't agree with you more. AMC started out uncut and commercial-free, but the have since changed to the point where a movie is unwatchable. For a channel that supposedly works to preserve the history of film, they sure act like a bunch of greedy slimeballs.

@FN: Who did you have to blow to get this lawsuit?
Freudian_Nightmare writes:

@Sac: More than I had counted on. But it was worth it. Now if you excuse me, I must go and a take shower with Listerine

@drgonz0

Agree.

This is why the DVD exists. If you see "Leon" and "Deliverance" on tv, you have no idea about cinema. Period.

Hell we should just sue for any channel having adverts.
encoreyourface writes:

who cares. it only bothers me that it breaks in the middle of a rape scene (hopefully not man-on-man) is that i have to stop jerking off for that amount of time.
BDeck writes:

@encore

im taking it you have never seen Deliverance then?

encoreyourface writes:
on February 21st, 2010 at 10:03:12 PM

nope. should i have?
BDeck writes:

yes. its an american classic,and burt being a bad ass in it.

the rape scene is indeed a man-man rape,the whole time the rapie is yelling squeal like a pig!

encoreyourface writes:

barley-i've seen the original and the remake. the original was a better film all-together, and had more vivid sex scenes in it.
encoreyourface writes:
on February 23rd, 2010 at 12:51:15 AM

@PP-"Irreversible" was a pretty f*cked up movie, and that rape scene was weird,very realistic ..
Eben1277 writes:

History of Violence... it's starts as rape, then becomes f*cking... that movie may give some people the wrong idea about how to turn a woman on...
