Another "Three Musketeers" Movie in the WorksSubmit Comment
Producer Lionel Wigram (Sherlock Holmes) has hired Peter Straughan (The Men Who Stare at Goats) to turn Alexandre Dumas' classic 17th century adventure "The Three Musketeers" into a swashbuckling tale that would appeal to young audiences.

Straughan's script will play up the action and sexier elements of the story much the same way that Wigram Sherlock Holmes as a bare-knuckle boxing, martial-arts savvy sleuth. The goal is to turn "The Three Musketeers" into a franchise. No director or cast has been attached to the project yet.

"Musketeers" has been the subject of numerous previous adaptations, most notably George Sidney's 1948 version starring Lana Turner and Gene Kelly; Richard Lester's 1973 version starring Oliver Reed and Michael York and Stephen Herek's 1993 version starring Charlie Sheen and Kiefer Sutherland.

"Resident Evil" direct Paul WS Anderson is also prepping a 3D version of the tale.

What was wrong with the last one??!! Kiefer rocked. Now it'll be Ashton Kutcher. Drop dead fools.

If done right could be a awesome franchise. Could be 'the musketeer' 'the musketeers' 'three musketeers' 'four musketeers' in that order.

I say use the cast from the last movie.I think that the last movie was great. And now that they are older they will be great for a part 2 "Twenty Years After".Because it will b 20 yrs. later when the new movie will be release.

well we know this won't be good wit the RE director working on it ...

The last Musketeers movie wasn't the one with Charlie Sheen and Kiefer Sutherland.
It was Peter Hyams' "The Musketeer" (2001), with Justin Chambers and Mena Suvari.

And that version did already what the article suggests, about playing up the action and using fight choreographies inspired by martial arts, unlike the typical fencing scenes we usually see in "The Three Musketeers" cinematic adaptations.

And it had Tim Roth! No musketeer-film will ever be able to top that.

Well f*ck me it's going to be in 3d. Why what the hell ,oh well I'm not going to see it any ways . Just like Sherlock Homo ,They are probably going to be gay .But not just gay ,gay in 3d. Why doesn't Hollywood just make porns and porno makers make movies that would be a lot better.

What about 'The man in the Iron Mask' with John Malkovich, Gerad Dipedu and Jeremy Irons as the three musketeers and Gaberial Burn as Dartanian (the 4th muskeeter)? thought that was a good musketter film, but the one with Kiefer and Charlie sheen was a good early 90's action film

after seeing this article on WP... i actually searched online to watch the movie again... (netflix didn't have it for instant streaming) but yea.. brought back some child memories... it was a overly cliched movie... but i thought it was a solid film... if you forget about the lame non attempts for the proper accents of the names..
