Edgar Wright Working on "Ant-Man" Script

Edgar Wright Working on "Ant-Man" ScriptSubmit Comment
A few day ago, comic book creator Stan Lee confirmed that Marvel is working on an "Ant-Man" movie, about a superhero with the ability to shrink at will and communicate with insects. He then added that he had already met with director Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) to discuss plans for the film.

MTV News has now caught up with Wright, who is still working on "Scott Pilgrim vs The World," to get a few more details. "I can't do two things at once, so [now that 'Scott Pilgrim' is finished] I will return to doing another draft of [Ant-Man]," he said.

Marvel has previously stated that "Ant-Man" will likely get his own film after "The Avengers," which gives Wright plenty of time to get the script right.

"Because that character isn't one of their biggest properties, it's not like a tentpole deadline," he explained. "It's more like me and Kevin [Feige] [saying], 'Let's make a really good script.' We've always agreed on that 'Lets make a good script that works.' It should be a great genre film, so that's why I did a first draft."

"Ant-Man" was one of the founding members of The Avengers, which means that the character might be introduced in the superhero team movie before getting his own film.

"Ant-Man" script?
I bet it'll be a really, really tiny script!

(yeah, I said it! Sue me!)

Jeezus PP, seriously? That was lame... try again. I am going to sue you too actually.

His power is to shrink to a size smaller than Verne Troyer and he can speak with bugs? What kind of superhero is that?

"Honey I Shrunk the Superhero!"

Actually, there's a lot more to Ant-man than you guys make him out to be.
-For One he can shrink, ((which if anyone knows DC's the Atom, there's a LOT he can do))
-2) he has the strength capacity of an ant, (Before you think of this as a crappy ability, Ants can lift to 3 times their own weight, so if he weighs 200 LBS, he can lift about 600 LBS.)
-3) He IS one of the smartest characters in the marvel universe.

And with him in control of writing, I can see this being a bad-ass super-hero/action/comedy film, like Hot Fuzz.
Maybe even Simon Pegg in the lead? He would basically be playing the same character he did in the Star Trek movie.

director*** not writer, sorry!

"Ant-Man" Thats what COC calls his penis since it is so small.

@ Bryan.Rivelli:

Actually, you get a 0 for interpreting irony and/or humor.

What makes you think people here don't what they're talking about? A lot of people here are well aware of Ant-Man's powers and, in case they weren't, the character's abilities and potential were already discussed in other threads.
You may want to be more careful when trying to preach about superheroes around here.

Also, ants can lift anywhere from 20 to 50 times their body weight, depending on the species, and not 3 times, like you said.

Ants are able to carry objects great distances and even climb trees while carrying them. It's is comparable to a 100 pound person picking up a small car, carrying it several miles on his back and then climbing a mountain while still carrying the car!

And a superhero with these powers is, in fact, quite interesting, as its movie should be.

If he has the same strenghts as an ant, does he have the same weakness as ant? Like if you draw a circle with a magic-marker around him, will he starve to death?

LOL!! Good one, Freudian!

@PP-exactly. i'm actually quite interested in seeing this and since they have extra time on their hands it might actually have a good story AND good action.

Question will he burn to death if you focus a magnifying glass? Seriously I wannas know I could end the movie quick!!! I will burn aand starve you ant-man!!

"Edgar Wright Working on "Ant-Man" Script"

After about a year and a half, I can safely ask.... So what's new?
Kenny writes:

Too bad Ant-Man will probably have his movie only after the Avengers. This means several years and I'd like to see it soon. But I'd settle for seeing him in the Avengers movie even if he's not one of the main characters.
TeemSelami writes:

if he can lift an object several times his body weight does his strength weaken as he shrinks.
Goober3000 writes:

does Ant-Man get his powers because he gets bit by a radio active ant?
