"Spider-Man" Reboot to be in 3D

"Spider-Man" Reboot to be in 3DSubmit Comment
Chairman of Sony Pictures Jeff Blake has just revealed that the studio has scheduled the Marc Webb-directed "Spider-Man" reboot to hit theaters on July 3rd, 2012, which means that it will go head-to-head with the "Star Trek" sequel. He added that the still untitled Spidey film will be in 3D.

"Spider-Man is the ultimate summer movie-going experience, and we're thrilled the filmmakers are presenting the next installment in 3D," he said. "Spider-Man is one of the most popular characters in the world, and we know audiences are eager and excited to discover Marc's fantastic vision for Peter Parker and the franchise."

Webb (500 Days of Summer) is planning to begin shooting later this year from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac). There is no word on who will play the role of Peter Parker/Spidey, but actors like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zac Efron and Logan Lerman have been rumored.

They're using Vanderbilts script. The studio pushed really hard for it. Either it's really that good or it possibly sucks alot of ass. Let's face it, studio execs aren't the best when it comes to what's good, or at least for the most part. Sony really wanted his script, hope their obsession over it is justifiable

Wasn't this already confirmed like a week or two ago?

And how dare that f*cker:

My ass, to hell with this Webb fag.

I think they can stop anouncing that a movie will be in 3D, we'll just assume it now.

A reboot is when you restart a franchise but not follow anything that the previous movies set up. A remake is supposed to be when you want to remake Just a single movie.

Um, no they aren't. This Blake guy is full of sh*t. They pretty much picked Webb out of a hat. And the guy has no action experience. Webb didn't approach Sony and ask for the franchise and relinquish some great auteur vision. Sony found him because he made a f*ckin' break-up movie.

Yeah good luck with all that. If JJ does a Wrath of Khan, Smallville Spidey won't stand a chance.

I love how WP have "actors like Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Zac Efron and Logan Lerman have been rumored". If they want to set this in high school, Gordon-Levitt is out. If they want the movie to be good, Efron is out. Lerman is your top choice at the moment.

A few things that everybody can take for granted:

- Paris Hilton to start sh*tting blood (if not already).
- The Kardashians to keep marrying black athletes, and then taking away half of their fortunes after the divorce.
- Lindsay Lohan to die young.
- World War III
- Brett Favre to keep getting in and out of retirement for the next 2 years.
- Miley Cyrus' sex tape to hit the web in less than 2 years.
- The men from "Jersey Shore" to go bald.
- The women from "Jersey Shore" to go into porn.
- Blockbuster to go belly-up.
- "Spider-Man" reboot to be in 3D.

The logical sequence of events allows us to see these coming miles away.
Jeff Blake just confirmed what everybody knew already.

Good point! And all they need to create a 4D environment for a Spider-Man movie, is to hang a few dozen ropes on the ceiling!
It would feel like we were IN the movie!

@ Telur

A remake is a loving homage to an original film, with a completely new style and improvements over the mistakes of the original. (The Thing, The Fly, The Man who Knew Too Much. Hell even The Day the Earth Stood Still).

A reboot is when a studio can still see money making potential in a franchise, and disregards the previous sh*t versions.
