"TMNT" and "Astro Boy" Studio Has Shut Down

Posted: February 9th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
"TMNT" and "Astro Boy" Studio Has Shut DownSubmit Comment
In a statement to the Hong Kong stock exchange, Imagi International Holdings has announced that it has stopped funding its computer animation studio (Imagine Studios), the company behind "TMNT," and "Astro Boy," to prevent losing more money and preserve shareholder value.

Even though the studio's "TMNT" movie earned a solid $95.6 million, "Astro Boy" went on to make only $23 million, losing quite a bit on their $65 million investment.

But even before "Astro Boy" was released, Imagi recorded a net loss of $93.4 million for the six months that ended on September 30th, 2009. The company also owes $4.6 million in back pay to the 350 employees it laid off.

Imagi International Holdings said that it will continue to develop movie ideas, despite shutting down its animation studio. The plan is to outsource the actual animation work to mainland China and other countries where costs are lower.

What this means for the "Gatchaman" has yet to be seen.

I want to read this article, but all I see are numbers.
And reading the digits alone, you already get the the gist of how much they lost, and how much they need to need to payback.
So...Applebottom jeans, boots with the fur, the whole club was looking at her...Oh gawd, I'm going to take a nap.

Astro Boy and TMNT are a bunch of horse sh*t, so i'm happy.

however then you read this: "magi International Holdings said that it will continue to develop movie ideas, despite shutting down its animation studio"

that sucks lohag.

Their IMAGI logo looks like sh*t to begin, that's why they failed. It look similar to a software company producing 16-bit video games.

GIST-it doesn't just LOOK like sh*t, it IS sh*t.

@encoreyourface

You are right. Even the name is sh*t, I also think they forgot how to spell the word IMAGINE.

@GIST-

that's because the only "people" working there are a bunch of chimpanzees slinging sh*t at each other, they don't know how to spell.

TMNT was pretty good work, but you couldn't tell the same people worked on Astro Boy, which looked horrible. Looks like they'd have been better off leaving Astro Boy in the past where he belongs.

The script for TMNT was definitely a winning reboot. Leonardo in the congo fighting cartels for an opening, Raphael battling with him in a rain duel...a truly great family flick with maturity.

The animation is another story. I accepted I was watching a lengthy PSONE cut scene, but I wasnt thrilled by it.

I thought it had amazing animationfor the first hour (especially the rainy fight) but it really did fall apart by the end.

TMNT WAS GREAT!THEY WAS SAID THAT THEY WILL MAKE A SEQUEL AND A TV SERIES

I found TMNT pretty cool, and Astro Boy would've been fine if they actually paid some attention to the drama. It seems they were so stuck on making a kid movie, they did all the dramatic parts very sloppily, making it seem quite empty and too light. It couldn't been a really cool movie with a better script and direction.

Sorry, I meant "It could've", not "It couldn't".
