Jeremy Renner Reacts to His Best Actor Nomination

Jeremy Renner Reacts to His Best Actor NominationSubmit Comment
The Oscar nominations were announced today and the nominees are now commenting on how it feels to be recognized. They are all honored and excited, but most of them have been there before. This is why it is interesting to see what someone like Jeremy Renner thinks about his nomination for Best Actor.

He's had major parts in films like "SWAT" and "28 Weeks Later," but it is "The Hurt Locker" that has given him his breakout role.

"I never knew that I could feel so exhilarated as I did when I was six years old during Christmas, or going to Disneyland for the first time," the 37-year-old actor said. "I never imagined this feeling coming back. It's an amazing high. It really is."

Renner was then asked if he expected to be nominated, considering how much attention the film has been getting. He responded: "Hell, no! I had zero expectations. What got us through is that we all knew that we had a great script and we had amazing roles. I knew for me, specifically, I had the role of a lifetime. We had to keep fighting through every obstacle and that got us through those moments with flies in your mouth. And when you're working with Anthony Mackie [who plays James' no. 2, Sanborn] and Brian Geraghty [as Eldridge, another member of James' team], it doesn't get any better than that."

He added: "I think the first one they called out for us was Best Actor. I climbed all over Anthony and jumped in his arms! He's my brother for life. It was awesome. We are truly blessed."

So, that was it? His reaction to the nomination was to jump into another man's arms? p*ssy!!!

Rip Torn could teach Renner a thing or two about going out to celebrate!

Until this guy chugs down a bottle of vodka, goes to the middle of the streets with two semi-automatics on his hands and starts shooting into the air shouting "Yeee-haw", I have no respect for him.

Nevertheless, him being nominated was cool.

well, you shouldn't have jumped in black man's arms, jeremy... that's kind of dandy...
But hell, am I happy that he got nominated. When I first saw that movie early in the summer I thought it'll get lost in the awards ahuffle

Haha good for Renner, he was fantastic in the Hurt Locker. A really entertaining film, Mackie was great too. But Harrelson was better and I knew he was going to get that best supporting actor nod and Mackie would fall by the wayside. But its nice to see someone like Renner get nominated alongside past nominees and prominent actors like Freeman, Firth, Clooney, and Bridges. I was really hoping that either Renner or Ben Foster (whos incredible in the Messenger) would get a best actor nod. If Renner won thatd be really great.

Good for Renner. He's always been underratedin my opinion so it's cool to see him nominated.

He will lose anyway. Jeff will win.

I feel like Bridges has been shafted SOOOO MANY f*ckING TIMES, that, they have no choice but to give it to him...
But if they don't the only other person in that list worthy of the award is Renner..

Clooneys performance in Up in the Air, was no different than that of his performance in Oceans 11.. Hes always doing his best sinatra impression... whether thats sinatra or not... Its all the same... Colin Firth wasn't oscar worth as far as im concerned...

That list should read as this for best actor...

Jeremy Renner - Hurt Locker
Jeff Bridges - Crazy Heart
Robert Downey Jr - Sherlock Holmes
Viggo Mortensen - The Road
Michael Stuhlbarg - A serious Man

With Colin Firth being an honorable mention..

Clooney and Freeman have no business being nominated... Freeman was the worst part of Invictus, his portrayal of Mandella was totally card read and wooden.. with a sh*t accent to boot..

Bridges should have f*cking won for The Big Lebowski, but these are the oscars, where "good guys" win, "bad guys" lose, and as always, england prevails!

I think it's great that an underrated character actor like Jeremy Renner got an Oscar nomination for his great performance here. Too bad Anthony Mackie didn't get a Best Supporting Actor nomination for his equally good work as Sgt Sanborne. Mackie was WAY better than Stanley Tucci and Matt Damon.

"the bums will always lose"

The people from "Jersey Shore" need to be reminded of that.
