"I, Frankenstein" to Begin Filming in July

"I, Frankenstein" to Begin Filming in JulySubmit Comment
Lakeshore Entertainment has announced it will re-team with writer Kevin Grevioux ("Underworld" franchise) and director Patrick Tatopoulos (Underworld: Rise of the Lycans) for "I, Frankenstein," based on Grevioux's upcoming Darkstorm Studios graphic novel. It is set to begin filming in July.

"I, Frankenstein" is a contemporary fantasy thriller in which the original monster of Victor Frankenstein stands between the human race and an uprising of supernatural creatures (Invisible Man, Dracula, Hunchback of Notre Dame) determined to overthrow the world.

The Monster has evolved, learned how to control his anger and now acts as a private investigator. Dracula, meanwhile, is a kingpin of crime, and the Invisible Man is a secret operative.

"It is a privilege to be given the chance to direct this highly visual piece," said Tatopoulos. "Kevin Grevioux has created something truly special with 'I, Frankenstein' and I couldn't dream of a better team than my friends at Lakeshore to make this project happen."

Exactly AYT BALL, we don't want another "Van Helsing"

Calm down Trueman. Hollywood doesn't give a rat's ass what we want or think. They'll continue making remakes because it's profitable for them. Anyways, this isn't a remake (at least I don't think this has been done before) and it could be good.

What eVil.kEv2 said. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be another Van Helsing which could very likely happen. Man, that movie was awful.

"The Monster has evolved, learned how to control his anger and now acts as a private investigator"

- Sounds like they're talking about Bill Clinton!

"Dracula, meanwhile, is a kingpin of crime"

- Bram Stoker must be rolling in his grave. What a f*cking joke.

"the Invisible Man is a secret operative"

- How convenient!
What's next, the Werewolf as a sniffer dog?

"a contemporary fantasy thriller [...] Victor Frankenstein stands between the human race and an uprising of supernatural creatures (Invisible Man, Dracula, Hunchback of Notre Dame) determined to overthrow the world"

- Here's a though, why not simply call this "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen 2"?

"underworld:Rise of the lycans" was very bad(and yet very blue/dark)

*Here's a THOUGHT, why not...

"Here's a though, why not simply call this "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen 2"?

That was my first reaction. Seems like a mash-up between Van Helsing and the X-League, which doesn't fill me with confidence.

However, I actually do want this to be good
SpookyCupcakes writes:

This sounds dumb.

Just remake frankenstein and dracula like the wolfman and then get them all together like the avengers!
Tizzle writes:

@PP: Bill Clinton! LMAO!
encoreyourface writes:
on February 2nd, 2010 at 3:24:56 PM

@PP it may end up like that. frankly it sounds corny. to make up for that some massive blood-shed might be in order, so a hard-core R-rating may be aq must.
encoreyourface writes:

*a, not aq.
Peter Parker writes:

@ Tizzle: Thanks.

@ Encore: It does sound corny, doesn't it?
Behind the Frankenstein, Dracula, Hunchback of Notre Dame and the Invisible Man characters are magnificent novels that created them. Using the characters like this, in something that sounds like a WWE Royal Rumble, putting them all together in the same movie and turning them into action characters, is just complete retardation.

I can appreciate a good action movie that uses classic "monsters" like the ones mentioned in the article. But this is looking like hollow exploitation, with no regards for the original characters, nor the original author's work.

We all saw what "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen" and "Van Helsing" turned out to be.
I'm not interested in seeing some type of spin-off from those two.

How much you want to bet they'll end up filming it in 3D as well?

I'd watch it if Guillermo Del Toro was writing/directing. The guy behind the Underworld sereis....not so much.
encoreyourface writes:

@PP-"sounds like a WWE Royal Rumble"

lol!!

i actually liked Van Helsing for what it was, a pretty good action flick with a monster hunter kicking ass.

but this is too much, Dracula as a crime-lord? even in Blade 3 Dracula wasn't that gay.

Invisible Man a secret operative? that's EXACTLY what you'd think he'd do in a movie if he was in a corny movie like this ...

also The Hunchback of f*cking Notre Dame determined to take over the world? do the writers for this horse-sh*t know how gay that sounds?
shine2rust writes:

Frankie looks like Thomas Jane.
SACdaddy writes:

If possible get Liam Neeson to play the lead. He's tall as sh*t and is starting to kind of look like a monster in his old age. Plus, he has a cool voice for the part especially if they make it more of a noir detective film with some good voiceovers. Mickey Rourke would make a good monster too, but I don't see the whole "control his rage" thing working for him as much.
Eben1277 writes:

They should just call in the Monster Squad to f*ck these *ssholes up.
jdl107 writes:
