Is "Star Trek 2" Delayed by Several Years?

Is "Star Trek 2" Delayed by Several Years?Submit Comment
In an interview with Wired, actor Zachary Quinto revealed that he will depart from anything "Star Trek"-related for a few years. "I'm stepping away from Star Trek for at least two years no movies, no conventions, no anything for a while," he said.

Quinto, who played Spock in the recent franchise reboot, added that the only reason why he provided his voice for a "Star Trek" video game was "as an investment in the fan base."

Paramount Pictures previously revealed that it will release the "Star Trek" sequel on June 29th, 2012. Obviously Quinto cannot take two years off if he wants to reprise his role in the second installment, unless the plan has changed and "Star Trek 2" won't go in front of the cameras for a couple more years.

he looks pretty gay in that picture ...
cokecan writes:

The game he's referring to is probably star trek online

"he looks pretty gay in that picture ..."

yep.it looks like he's checking out his own d*ck at the mirror

i love Sylar but come on Zach... seriously just do the sequel! i hate to say it (as a avid heroes fan) but Heroes most likely will be done after this 4th season... do ST2 and develop your career!
MurphBucket writes:

i think he is pretty awesome as spock. You guys are right though he needs to keep it going as spock. How do you not want to be in one of those blockbusters?
Freudian_Nightmare writes:

Maybe he's sad that he wasn't cast for his acting chops, but for the fact that he looks like Nimoy?
Peter Parker writes:

Is that Liza Minnelli in that picture?
Preditorian writes:

"as an investment in the fan base"? Buuuut no Star Trek 2? Hmmm let me borrow a quote from a movie.

"This is madness!"
Dre-EL writes:

I guess he's trying to avoid being type cast as spock, he'll probably want to do a movie or two in between the sequels.
jeffw1978 writes:

If the homo wants green then he needs to f*cking man up and do the movies.

That pic looks like he is getting ready to get it on with vindy.
BigUnit writes:

what a p*ssy, then why take the role in the first place?
BigUnit writes:
on January 28th, 2010 at 10:41:23 AM

not being a fan of star trek for just about my whole, i actually liked the new installment and thought it was well done and pretty entertaining
eddie499 writes:

Face it, dude. You are a good Spock, but you are definitely not one of the cast members from Star Trek with major start potential power. Take the paychecks you can before you become an E! True Hollywood Story cautionary tale.
lawman writes:

Wow. Downey JR. is done with anything not Sherlock or Iron man related, and he has been acting what? 30 Years. f*ck this kid. If he thinks he needs a break, good. His break will give someone else a break. Maybe that someone will be a better actor than this queer bait!
MattC903 writes:
on January 28th, 2010 at 11:16:23 AM

What a d*ck.. why wouldn't he do a sequel? This is a grade A example of a "basically" no name actor making it big then getting a big head from it. f*ck, I thought he was gonna be passionate about this role, guess not.
HorrorJunky4Life writes:

I can understand ZQs caution. He doesn't want to be type casted in Trek movies with no one hiring him to do anything else. Look at the track record of the other actors from the shows.

The new cast looks to have broken this curse but I'd still be leery.

Good point.

damn it wp, check ur facts ZQ just clarified that he'll be back for 2012, but he won't bedoing any other trek stuff, like voicing st online and what not, until the movie. it was just taken out of context

And once again here's yet another actor under the impression that they have a choice in doing movies or not. Can't wait for the roles to dry up and he's left doing commercials for Rent-a-Center.
Peter Parker writes:

Ranger writes:

@Derp - thx. for saving us the time by calling yourself a c*nt. Mucho appreciato!

As for Quinto... this young(er) punk, holding up Star Trek for ransom like this (and that's exactly what he is doing, make no mistake about it), after ALL the work the original and TNG folks did to build up Roddenberry's vision... this prick should be taken out back behind the wood shed and shot!

Needs a break... FROM WHAT?!?!?

Lazy, spoiled f*cker. I suspect Nimoy (of whome Quinto says he has become friends with) is just rolling his eyes and shaking his head at this point.
BunnyFooFoo writes:
on January 28th, 2010 at 1:47:08 PM

@Ranger, yeah Nimoy probably is but that's only the Parkinson's kicking in.
Still he's disgusted nonetheless
Ranger writes:

Or Park-in-Son... what Derp's dad does to him every Friday night when his whoring Mom gets a night out of the trailer to play Crack Bingo!
BunnyFooFoo writes:

hahahaha Park-In-Son. Classic material.
encoreyourface writes:
on January 28th, 2010 at 2:43:53 PM

@triggax-

"This picture looks like it was taken at a gay wax museum."

that's EXACTLY what it looks like!

i guess if he doesn't like acting and just can't live without being a knowbody actor, he can f*ck himself and we'll just get a new Spock! Arnold Schwarzenegger any-one?

Powderedtoastman writes:

So with Heroes in a ratings death spiral his plan is to abandon the gigantic film franchise and piss off millions of fans? I'm picturing a bearded Quinto showing up in a few months talking about his new rap career. Cause he's flippin lost it!
