"Planet of the Apes" Reboot is Moving Forward

"Planet of the Apes" Reboot is Moving ForwardSubmit Comment
We just reported that 20th Century Fox has abandoned their "Planet of the Apes" reboot, and NY Mag has now learned that is back on. In fact, the studio is more determined than ever to make the film that will be an origin story showing how the apes became so smart.

Fox has hired writer Jamie Moss (Street Kings) to rework the script by Scott Frank, who was previously signed to write and direct the reboot but recently left the project.

The script, code-named "Caesar," goes into how genetic experiments on apes led to their evolutionary eclipse of humans. It refers to the genetically altered leader of the simian rebellion, so dubbed because the ape was capable of grand strategic thinking on par with Julius Caesar (whose own surname means "hairy" in Latin).

crap. i thought they where canceling this movie. they would have to do the plot EXTREMELY well for it to not sound completely ridiculous and sh*t-burger.

Troy: Can I play the piano any more?
Dr. Zaius: Of course you can!
Troy: Well I couldn't before.

From chimpan-A to chimpanzee,

good, there's potential there... so long as they let Tim Burton nowhere near it.
SACdaddy writes:

If Burton could have gotten Arnold like he originally wanted that movie would have been much better. Marky Mark ruined that film.

As for rebooting POA again, why?

This could be done very awesome but only if written right and with a perfect storyline, a storyline seems apparent through the previous films but you have to WATCH & LISTEN to them very carefully.

LOL

Why can't we just explain the ending of the Tim Burton movie because that didn't make any sense at all to me.

New Re-Boot rules:
1) You cannot reboot a movie that was done in the last 15 to 20 years.

2) You cannot reboot a movie that sucked the first time around.

3) You cannot reboot a movie AT ALL!!!!

Failure to follow these rules will result in getting YOUR ASS OR ASSES KICKED by the WP Players!!!!

Just make sure to keep Tim Burton away from it.

Interesting that they decided to go with genetically altering the apes... There's a gene that allows your skull to allow more brain room by compensating for jaw muscle strength. They see this gene in apes and humans. The human gene is mutated which is missing half the helix which in turn allows the skull to give more room for the brain. Some humans are born with the abnormal gene active and their skulls are very tiny which prevents their brain from growing properly. Just watched a PBS show on it two days ago...

Wonder if they will change the look of the apes to make their skulls larger...

@Ranger- Technically I think the last one was a Re-make, but it doesn't matter cuz it sucked.

So this one is a re-boot of a re-make, so a re-moot? or a re-bake? I don't know...
Ranger writes:

Yeah, I didn't like it much either.
