James Franco and Kirsten Dunst on "Spider-Man" Reboot

James Franco and Kirsten Dunst on "Spider-Man" RebootSubmit Comment
E! Online caught up with "Spider-Man" stars James Franco and Kirsten Dunst to find out how they feel about Sony Pictures rebooting the franchise.

"I don't have a problem with that," said Franco. "It worked out well for Batman, and comics themselves have different artists and writers. I think it's perfectly fine."

Franco has a good point in saying that a reboot could end up better than the original, but he cautions that you need some time to pass in order to do this. "I think for the viewers you want a little space [between Sam Raimi's and Marc Webb's flicks], so you can get everyone else out of your head."

Dunst added: "It's sad to see it end. I think for Sam [Raimi] it was time for him to move on, and so we're all going to move on with him. But we've had a good 10 years."

Franco seems aa popular as Liam Neeson with the public... and I think it's well-deserved.

I'm really surprised they got a quote from Kiki Drunkst. What 30 second window did they catch her without a casting agents c*ck in her mouth?
Ranger writes:

I'd say she was talking outta her ass. But some other agent was probably plugging that hole as well.

I can understand Franco - his role ended with S3, so he couldn't be in S4 anyway!

But Dunst just lost the job :)

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Jame Franco was a cool Harry, however Kristen Dunst ... never liked really liked her except her hot figure, kind of like Megan Fox.

She was not sexy enough for Mary Jane, that and she was as far to bland.Where was the sass?
SACdaddy writes:
on January 23rd, 2010 at 11:51:15 AM

I never had much of a problem with Dunst either. If anything Franco nearly ruined that entire series. He was ridiculously bad in all of those films but especially the 3rd installment. Dunst job was to have red hair and be depressed, mission accomplished. What's the fuss?
SACdaddy writes:
on January 23rd, 2010 at 11:54:44 AM

Just look at the picture at the top of the page. Dunst looks like she's genuinely amazed at whatever she's seeing (think it the Sandman), and Franco looks like someone is squeezing the sh*t out of his nuts. The guy's a horrible actor!
triggax writes:
on January 23rd, 2010 at 12:12:17 PM

Franco is NOT a horrible actor... Ill agree that, he was in super campy mode for the Spiderman films, but how about his roles in Pineapple Express and Milk? He was fantastic in both...

And he was excellent in the first Spiderman and parts of the 2nd... I think he played the character pretty well, he was supposed to be an over the top sniveling little bastard....

Kirsten Dunst can f*cking sit on it... with her dopey f*cking eyes and stupid face.. shes just f*cking awful in everything...
SACdaddy writes:
on January 23rd, 2010 at 3:55:16 PM

Trig you're in a especially moody today. What's goin on my friend? You're a film fan, so you should know one of the easiest things for an actor to do is play stoned or drunk. Any of us could have pulled off the same performance in PE that Franco did. As for Milk, so he played a queer, big deal. I bet Vin Dandy plays the role twice as good every time he leaves the house for gangbang night at the Blue Oyster Bar, but I don't see you praising him.
triggax writes:
on January 23rd, 2010 at 4:26:46 PM

Hahah...

Whatever!!!!

I disagree!!!!

Horse sh*te.. Its f*cking horse sh*te... Franco is a decent actor, regardless of how annoying he was in the spiderman franchise... Atleast he's really likable and seems down to earth...

So the easiest thing for an actor to do is play, stoned or drunk?

So by your logic, Nic Cage didn't deserve an oscar for Leaving Las Vegas, cause it would have been a cake walk for anyone else..

Johnny Depp could have slept his way through Fear and Loathing.. Really? Is that what you're saying?

How about Travolta in Pulp Fiction, he was stoned on Heroin the entire time, and was playing stoned the entire time, yet he still won a f*cking schwack of awards got a ridiculous amount of acclaim for the role..

As did Franco... Did he not win a Golden Globe for PE?... He got like 10 different f*cking awards for that.. was name High Times man of the year... I mean that might not mean much to you, but its still a huge publication.. Just because he played stoned doesnt mean that his character wasn't hilarious and it doesnt mean that the character had no depth...

So there.
triggax writes:
on January 23rd, 2010 at 4:35:34 PM

I mean Im just saying man, i think its kind of ignorant to say that everyone knows that its easiest for actors to play drunk or stoned... Well I obviously don't know that... I mean I watch a movie like Requiem for a Dream, it doesn't seem cheap to me, it doesn't seem like it would be easy to tackle a role like that...

I understand what you're saying like, if it was a character that "got stoned" it would be easy.. But he wasn't playing some funny random dude that just got stoned.. he was playing a f*ckin stoner.. and he made a pretty awesome character out of it.. whether you like it or not... He was immersed into a role of someone that was "addicted" (i use the term loosely cause its just weed) to marijuana... Not just someone who was "stoned"...

So.. Yeah, like in.. Extract for instance, the last movie I think I watched with someone smoking weed... Jason Bateman being stoned in that 3 minute scene would have been probably pretty easy.. but to keep it up for 2 hours and be convincing and still hilarious and still have a character full of emotion and depth... Thats not f*cking easy man.. And the same goes for playing a homosexual.. Hahaha.. just because hes playing a homo and its easy to pick out stereotypes of homosexuals and act them out in order to play your character... DOESNT MEAN IT WAS EASY TO DO...

How about his role as James Dean? He was f*cking magnificent in that... How about Sonny? Have you seen Sonny? He was awesome in it..
I think that you're not giving Franco a fair chance here because you have strong feelings towards the Spiderman franchise, i think you've stated multiple times in the past that you hated the entire thing... So your opinion, although I respect it mostly always, is completely bias...

As for Kirsten Dunst, she's still a f*cking skunt... with disgusting teeth and saggy tits..
triggax writes:
on January 23rd, 2010 at 4:43:07 PM

Watch Freaks and Geeks... Hes excellent in that as well..
Ranger writes:
on January 23rd, 2010 at 6:21:11 PM

Jesus Trig... it took you long enough in your posts to give Franco well-deserved credit for his spectacular performance as James Dean.

@SAC - you win this one buddy: 'I bet Vin Dandy plays the role twice as good every time he leaves the house for gangbang night at the Blue Oyster Bar' ---- I nearly pissed myself!

Ranger writes:
on January 23rd, 2010 at 6:26:17 PM

'Blue Oyster Bar' --- LOL.
SACdaddy writes:
on January 24th, 2010 at 9:57:02 AM

@Trig: Wow, wish I would have seen this yesterday. Sorry for the late reply but a couple of things.

Lol, I can't believe you wrote all of this and never mentioned Jeff Bridges in the Big Lebowski, the greatest stoner performance of alltime. True, people have been awarded for substance abuse roles in the past but think about it, you've mentioned a couple of winners out of about a million drunken/stoned performances. Its a common role for nearly every film that comes out now and in the past so it never seems like much of a stretch anymore. But don't get me wrong you do bring up some good points.

As for my "hatred" of Spider-man, you may have somewhat of a point there too. I didn't like most of the series, but Franco's performance was one of the main reasons why. He came off like a complete amateur in every way and never progressed as the series continued. If it weren't for the second film's edge and Alfred Molina's classic performance (which easily outshined Franco's many flaws) I would say the whole series was a waste. I'm a huge Raimi fan (as you already know) and Spidey fan too so dissing these films gives me no pleasure. Unfortunately, as a film fan there's no denying Franco's inconsistencies (SM 1-3, Annapolis, Flyboys, etc.) as an actor. I will hold back on calling him a complete waste until I see this James Dean movie I've heard a few of you mention. Wasn't that a TV movie though?
SACdaddy writes:
on January 24th, 2010 at 10:06:51 AM

Oh forgot something, when have you ever heard anyone's performance as a drunk, a stoner, or a homosexual negatively criticized?

this reboot is going to be awful. They had one bad movie *cough*Spider-man 3*cough*. And suddenly they decide the whole series wasn't worth d*ck?
