Tim Burton is Developing "Sleeping Beauty" Movie

Tim Burton is Developing "Sleeping Beauty" MovieSubmit Comment
AICN is reporting that director Tim Burton (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Alice in Wonderland) is planning to develop another live-action/CG feature film, this time based on the classic "Sleeping Beauty" fairy tale.

His plan is not to just re-tell the same story; the new movie will instead focus on the villainous Maleficent, who curses the infant Princess Aurora to prick her finger on the spindle of a spinning wheel and die before the sun sets on her sixteenth birthday after not being invited to the baby's christening.

She is often viewed as the most powerful and sinister of the Disney Villains, frequently acting as their leader in many crossovers.

At this point, it is not clear if "Maleficent" will be Burton's next project since he has been promising to re-team with Johnny Depp for the big screen adaptation of "Dark Shadows." Stay tuned.

@BigTate

I agree, instead of reading original scripts.
Tim Burton strolls over to Toys R Us to see which children fairy tale story he hasn't done. I'm guessing Dora the Explorer is in his top ranking.

sounds as gay as the rest of the sh*tty Disney movies ...

Just so credit goes where it should.
Tim Burton worked as a producer and investor on both Nightmare and 9. Henry Selik directed nightmare and has said in the past that he'll never attach burtons name to one of his projects ever again. Burton garnered all the f*cking credit from nightmare and Nobody even knows who selik is...

The popular argument is that, Tim Burton over saw the entire production of the film, well if you look into it, thats not true in the slightest, he was a silent investor used for his name only, to sell the film.

The other argument is that, well Burton came up with the story boards and characters. Wrong again, selik came up with the original story back in the mid 70's, if you watch "return to oz" in which he did the characters and story boards. there is a character used in the film Identical to Jack Skellington...

It really chaps my ass when douche f*ck gets credit for seliks work...

Im not so concerned about 9 cause it f*cking sucked.. But the fact of 9 is that it's a russian movie that needed a big name american to attach themselves to the project in order to be released here...

Much to the same effect as Tarantino putting his name on Hero, or Sukiyaki western django...

Burton had absolutely nothing to do with either of those films. Its a f*cking shame.

I can count all of burtons good movies on one hand... does that make a good director? Nope, considering how many films hes done..

He hasnt been attached to a decent film in 15 f*cking years with the exception of Big Fish, but even then, it wasn't anything spectacular..

@Triggax, take a chill pill. I will wait to see Alice before I form any opinion over this discussion, but Burton better deliver the goods if he is already talking about taking another story and turning it into one of his projects. The fact that he isn't being original I could care less about. Tim Burton is going to do what he does best. That is making weird things even weirder. I say keep it coming because his films are fun to watch and that is the point. Whether you think he sucks or not or is just putting his name on things, each one is interesting in its own way.

VDODSON writes:

Shutup Paulie. Tim Burton is a hack. He probaly sleeps in a coffin, and sticks needles in himself.

Sleepy Hollow was his last good movie.

BigTate: "Will he EVER make an original movie again??"

Agreed! The last animation movie that Tim Burton was a producer was "9", which was boring.
SACdaddy writes:

Damn, this guy hasn't met a fairy tale he didn't like.

Dark Shadows should be a project that gets Burton back to his glory days.
victor arroyo writes:

This f*cking retard obviously will pick:

As the Princess: Helena Bonham Carter

As the Prince: Johnny Depp

Burton's good movies:

Beetle Juice '88

Batman '89

Edward Scissorhands '90

Batman Returns '92

Burton doing a spooky, kooky movie version of a children's classic. Wow, what a risk taker.

SACdaddy writes:

@Victor: Not a Sleepy Hollow fan?

I think he would make a great R rated director. Sleepy Hollow was classic horror/action movie and Burton obviously needs an outlet for his darker tendencies. Its time to put down the fairy tales and let the little homicidal maniac inside come out and play, Timmy.

encoreyourface writes:

Marlyn Manson is a f*cking weirdo. however a movie made by him would be ... interesting to say the least.

Dude...the Tim Burton exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art proves you right. The original storyboards are on display there, but upon closer examination of the label, the credit goes to Selick. but who the f*ck really going to look at that, right? Kind of a shame that people heap the praise on Burton, I don't blame Selick one bit!
