"The Resurrection of Christ" Hopes to Duplicate "Passion of the Christ" Success

"The Resurrection of Christ" Hopes to Duplicate "Passion of the Christ" SuccessSubmit Comment
Hoping to replicate some of the box office success of Mel Gibson's "Passion of the Christ," producer Bill McKay is now developing "The Resurrection of the Christ."

Screenwriter Dan Gordan (The Hurricane) is penning the screenplay with a focus on the power, greed and ambition of those involved in the crucifixion - Pontius Pilate, Herod, Caiaphas and Judas. McKay asserts that "Resurrection" will remain faithful to Biblical and historical records.

"It's as much about the key players as it is about Jesus," McKay said. "We want to bring in the 'Gladiator' dimension of the first century against the political milieu of the time."

Jonas McCord, who helmed Antonio Banderas starrer "The Body," has signed on to direct. Shooting will take place in Israel, Morocco and Europe for ten weeks in July. The $20 million film has set an Easter 2011 release.

Will we actually get to see Jesus use his powers in this movie? The first movie only hinted at them, he is ranked above Thor in the powers department. Superman is immortal only on Earth, Jesus can be resurrected at will, thats quite a feat.

I'd imagine that the only interesting part is when he goes to Hell for 3 days after he dies.

The Passion was such a piece of sh*t film. The only reason I sat all the way through was to chuckle through the torture scenes.

I wonder if they'll tell the story of when Jesus was gettin' nailed, the pain gave him a boner and he poke a Roman in the eye with it.

Apparently Jesus was really hung.

Ranger writes:

Coleman should still keep his physically abusive wife (for entertainment)... and to just up the ante, marry Lohan... and bring in Mini-Me as his gay lover, with Flavor Flav and Brigitte Neilsen as their wife-swapping neighbors.

That... THAT would be a Reality Show.

Call it: 'Jesus... where are you when we need you?!'
