Steven Spielberg Making World Trade Center Documentary

Steven Spielberg Making World Trade Center DocumentarySubmit Comment
Oscar winning film director Steven Spielberg is set to make a TV documentary on the rebuilding of New York's World Trade Center, which was destroyed in the September 11th, 2001 attacks.

The Science Channel said on Thursday that Spielberg would executive produce the six-part documentary series "Rebuilding Ground Zero", which will chronicle not just the engineering and building of the new 1,776-foot (541-meter) high skyscraper, but will seek to honor those who lost their lives in the September 11 airplane attack. It will also examine the effect of the redevelopment on the lives of New Yorkers, the cable channel said.

Science Channel said the series would use 3D, time-lapse cameras, computer modeling techniques and other high technology methods to bring the story to life.

The shimmering glass skyscraper, formerly known as the "Freedom Tower" but renamed One World Trade Center last year, will be the tallest building in the United States and the centerpiece of the new World Trade Center site. The site will also include a National September 11 Memorial and Museum.

Work on the Freedom Tower officially began in late 2006 and is scheduled to be completed in 2013. The series is due to be shown in 2011.

Um, didn't Spielberg say several years ago that he would never make anything about 9/11? I'm pretty sure he said something like that not long after the terrorist attacks.

God, hasn't this story been told liek 5 times already in film, and 500 times on tv? I do understand why they want to do it!

But now i think they are jsut milking the story for profits!

@ skippy

Yeah because there's so much money in tv doc*mentaries.

I just think he should wait till they're done building it to talk about the rebuilding it

I hope Wesley Snipes gets cast in this. He was great in Passenger 57.

Hmmm, "Passenger 58" starring Wesley Snipes. Only in an "Inglourious Basterds"-style twist, he averts the 9/11 attacks and steers the plane to Afghanistan where he crashes it into al-Queda headquarters--killing every terrorist, after heroically jumping out thru the emergency exit and breaking Osama Bin Laden's neck with one swift roundhouse kick to the face.

Now that's a movie I would watch.

Yeah...and this same "museum" is going to be a planned "International Freedom Museum" showcasing the plights of peoples that have been enslaved over the years. Because we all know that Slavery had everything to do with 9-11 :rolleyes:

@PhantomCloneInX:

Goddamn dude, that was just an idea, but watch it get made haha. Guaranteed it will too, also I hate how they keep on milking this story. It's getting pretty redundant.

@PhantomCloneInX:

Buy me a ticket for that flick, too! It'd have been way better than that Art Of War 2 bullsh*t!
