Cary Elwes to Star in The Beatles' "Yellow Submarine" Remake

Posted: January 12th, 2010 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Cary Elwes to Star in The BeatlesSubmit Comment
Robert Zemeckis is prepping the remake of Beatles' "Yellow Submarine," which he will direct for Disney. THR has learned that he is already in talks with actors to star as the famous musicians.

Cary Elwes (Saw) is in talks to play George Harrison, Dean Lennox Kelly ("Robin Hood") is in talks to play John Lennon, Peter Serafinowicz (Couples Retreat) is in talks to play Paul McCartney, and Adam Campbell (Epic Movie) is in talks to play Ringo Starr. Check out image below to see the actors next to the musicians.

The original 1968 animated movie was based on the music by the Beatles and featured a storyline wherein a soldier called Old Fred meets up with the Beatles and travels in a yellow submersible to Pepperland. Among the group's encounters are the music-hating Blue Meanies.

As with his last three films, Zemeckis is making the movie using 3D performance-capture technology.

I agree with Stevie Wonder and Ray Charles by saying they look exactly like the Beatles.

Why would you even try to attempt this movie? Why a remake? This is a kick in the face to the Beatles! First, you can't remake this movie, even if they tried. It was the time and events of when it was released that made this movie a hit (with fans). Unless you give audience members a hit of acid at the ticket booth, I think this movie will tank! Who the f*ck wants to see anyone voicing the Beatles, other than the Beatles?? Get a clue, Zemeckis!

Is this movie gonna be animated or live action? Why would you cast actors that look (not really) like the Beatles if the film is animated? And if its not animated, why the f*ck wouldn't you keep true to the movie and have it animated? I call "shenanigans"!

These guys should be cast as Beatles for this one if it happens.

I wouldnt even waste the bandwith downloading this nonsense. I would like a Beatles movie showing their rise to fame, and stopping right before they all decided to go electric. When the Beatles first took the stage, they had to hire almost three hundred janitors to mop up all the p*ssy sweat from the female fans.

why the f*ck are they remaking a classic?!? jesus could you atleast leave the Beatles stuff alone

What the hell is Kev from Shameless doing in the pics, he needs to go back to cameo's in The Bill, or Coronation Street.

Ricky... I would personally invest money in this f*cking movie if that was the band of fellas that were to play the beatles... Cause that would be fantastic...

Terrible, terrible idea. Christ, is NOTHING sacred anymore? Do all the classics have to be remade? Lennon and Harrison are probably rolling in their graves, and if Ringo or Paul have anything to do with this then I have lost all respect for them. Just...wow...

The film will eather be a hit, or a turkey. Ether way, it will make money, and probably be a cult hit. Moneyvice, it does not mater.

i think they will wear make up n wigs to look more like the beatles plus zemeckis will use performance capture so he can easily make them look like the beatles

First, let me say... omg its f*ckin lostrose.. second, Since f*cking WHEN has yellow submarine ever been considered a classic? Rolling in their graves my ass! Like they would give a sh*t about this.. Harrison was the biggest money grubbin capitalist of the lot, and lennon definitely wouldn't have given a sh*t...
The original film was retarded.. they were all high as a kite... AS A f*ckING KITE... like beyond high... What reason could they possibly have to give a flying f*ck over it being remade? Honestly, id be flattered that the general public even had the slightest interest in remaking such a ridiculous film that I made when I was drinking glasses of lysergic acid and giving blowjobs to sherpas...

No offense to the beatles of course.. cause that would be blasphemy.. bah... f*ck the beatles, and f*ck this entire story... I just wasted my time...
vwkombi writes:

The Beatles were a bunch of ugly motherf*ckers! (Literally, imagine how man mothers these ugly f*cks would've f*cked.)

Can't say i'm a Beatles fan, can't say i have heard of Yellow Submarine before seeing this article, can't say i give a sh*t about this film being made. But even i know it's doomed for failure.

Who would see this? I mean really? This will just piss Beatles fans off and no kid could give a f*ck about the band or Zemeckis's bullsh*t movies. Remember how well his last few did with kids? Sounds like a disaster.

lostrose815 writes:

@ Triggax

First off, nice to see you too again.

And secondly, I called Yellow Submarine as classic because I myself am an avid Beatles fan. Some people may disagree with me (like you) but I'm sure I wouldn't agree with another person if they had different taste. Hypothetically speaking, if someone came up to me and said 'Hey, they're remaking Gladiator, can you believe that sh*t? Its a classic!', I'd be inclined to laugh in their face.

And lastly, you are incorrect in assuming that The Beatles would not care about this film being remade. Even if they were "high as a f*cking kite" (not saying that you are wrong here) when the movie was made doesn't meant that they didn't care about the project. It was still an artistic project that they stamped with their name. It is laughable to assume that they would not care if this remake was a failure and a success; no matter how minuscule their effort/involvement in this movie, it was still THEIRS.

That movie was a product of time for the beatles I dont think it would be relevant for todays audience.
