Johnny Depp to Star in "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote"

Johnny Depp to Star in "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote"Submit Comment
Director Terry Gilliam is very serious about getting his "The Man Who Killed Don Quixote" project back into production, after he was forced to shut it down due to a ruined set by freakish bad weather.

In the original ill-fated attempt, Johnny Depp played a modern day ad executive who travels back in time and is mistaken for Sancho Panza by Don Quixote. But when Depp was asked to return for second time, the actor insisted that he would love to, but is too busy with other projects.

Since then, Gilliam has brought on Duvall to play Don Quixote, and has just revealed to Paste magazine that Depp will return after all. "Yeah," replied Gilliam to whether the movie will have Depp in it. "And I rewrote the script. Robert Duvall has agreed to play Quixote. I'm really excited. So it's all that business of funding now. Hopefully that will get up and running next year."

Hmmmmmm, i'm really interested in this film, it keeps going up and down, in and out of production hell, hopefully it gets of the ground , Gilliam always delivers a great film.

The Imagnarium of Dr Parnassus, was absolutely brilliant, so i got much faith in Gilliam.
Plus side, i don't think there has ever been a film based on Don Quixote.

@ J.A.Ottley - hate to bust your bubble, but I think you might want to go google "Don Quixote movies". Definetly not anywhere close to being the first movie of its kind, lol!

On the other hand, I agree with you 100% about how good this movie could be. T. Gilliam is a wonderful director! You have only fueled my desire to see Dr. Parnassus.

Robert Duvall is a living legend.
This project has potential.

Somewhere, a jealous Tim Burton is sticking needles in a Terry Gilliam voodoo doll.

But ain't they more TV films, Bale01289.

I was thinking, more mainstream wise.

Paranassus was a spectacle, its like an adult plot with creative and child themes of an imaginary world, but it still maintains to a level of being for adults.
Love the way they combined Ledger, Depp, Law & Pharrel all as one character now that is just one of the brilliant aspects of the film.

Couldn't agree more...LOL @ Burton and Gilliam voodoo doll

@PP
Thats one of the funniest things I've read in a while lol

For those of you who haven't seen this already-http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmdDKsEtMfU

Its 6 mins. of footage from the first time they tried to film this movie.

Terry Gilliam has, to me anyway, more visual imagination that Burton could ever manage. His set designs and creative approach to many of his films really bring something different to modern day cinema.

I still occasionally watch The Adventures of Baron Munchausen to this day.

Thats not taking away anything that Burton has done of course as I believe he is a very good director as well.
