Tobey Maguire is Bilbo Baggins in "The Hobbit"?Submit Comment
During his many interviews for "Brothers," Tobey Maguire (Spider-Man) was asked which director he would like to work with next. He recently replied by naming Guillermo Del Toro, adding: "We may have something here in the near future."

Well, the near future for Del Toro are "The Hobbit" prequels and they are in need of Bilbo Baggins. So is Maguire in-talks to take the lead role in the two films?

LatinoReview got in touch with their agency sources and found out that Maguire is indeed having discussions about toplining "The Hobbit." Stay tuned.

In addition, Pajiba has learned that Maguire's production company is developing "Prisoners of Trebek" for 20th Century Fox. The actor is attached to star in the film about a man who attempts to master Jeopardy, but ultimately finds himself and falls in love.

The new movie is being written by William Wheeler (The Hoax) and is currently in search of an A-list director to take on the project.

y is everyone assuming he is gonna be bilbo? "something here in the near future" he could be eating toro's ass out or just be goin for a lower role

I don't believe this. The reason being is that Spider-Man 4 is scheduled to start filming in March. The Hobbit is scheduled to start filming in April. I'm sorry, but it's not going to take 1 month to film Spider-Man 4. It's going to take a good 3-4 months to film that movie. So unless The Hobbit has been delayed till the summer, this is not happening.

Let's hope not. Can't see ow he's going to do Spiderman 4 and The Hobbit concurrently though, unless one is getting delayed.

PhantomCloneInX writes:

Eh, I don't know what to think.

Part of me thinks that he could probably pull off the part of a hobbit. Another part is screaming "Please God, no!" at the thought of an emo-crying Bilbo. Label me undecided.

Sounds good to me. He's a great actor and he looks the part.

The Hobbit may have been delayed again and/or he may be playing a smaller role. Maybe he's not aiming for Bilbo. A dwarf, elf, or even human are all possibilties.

@Billofill: While cleaning every boardroom in Hollywood, they're bound to find out some things.

"In addition, Pajiba has learned that Maguire's production company is developing "Prisoners of Trebek" for 20th Century Fox. The actor is attached to star in the film about a man who attempts to master Jeopardy, but ultimately finds himself and falls in love."

So he wants do bang Alex Trebek? Who said originality in Hollywood was dead?

Sev writes:

Well, he looks like a young Ian Holm, and he's a great character actor compaired to his bigger roles, so yeah, that'll be an interesting choice.

@Bonzatri
He looks like a hobbit should plus we won't have to put up with another woefull plummy english accent like Frodos performance in the other LOTR films,no one in Britain speeks like that except newsreaders and the Royals(who are German and greek anyway).

UPDATE
It's been deemed s false by theOnering.net 's contacts within the production,James Mcavoy is the favorite according to insiders?

People would get distracted and all they would see, if this movie comes out with him as bilbo, is seeing him as spiderman.
