Peter Jackson Not Interested in "Halo" Movie

Peter Jackson Not Interested in "Halo" MovieSubmit Comment
To promote "The Lovely Bones," director Peter Jackson participated in an interview with Digg, which asked him several questions about the "Halo" movie that he and director Neill Blompkamp have spend six months working on before transitioning to "District 9."

According to Jackson, both he and Blomkamp have lost interest in the project and if it somehow got off the ground, they would not want to come back. "I don't think Neill would be interested in doing it, and I'd only be interested if he was," he said.

Recently, Steven Spielberg attempted to make "Halo," but outside of a few negotiations, it doesn't seem that he was successful either. The problem with the movie is that unless Microsoft funds it themselves, the company will have a tough time find a partner that would agree to their terms.

But Jackson feels that fans of the game will get their movie eventually. "It wouldn't surprise me if, at some point, Microsoft do manage to get the film made, and good luck to them, it'll be an excellent film," he said.

The only ones getting hurt by this the most is Microsoft. That's Cool...f*ck Bill Gates.

I kept telling people this move was done, done, done. Did they listen? No.

No one listens to you regardless Minkowski. You should cut your losses now and just stop talking in general.

The word 'regardless' in your post is extraneous, moron.

Oh, and what losses are you talking about? Losses? STFU. You have no need to post because you have no opinion. But please, I welcome you to try, buddy. Please, please join our little cavalcade.

yea it'll be another decade before this movie gets done if it all,

It's not going to happen because Microsoft insists on holding tight reins on the product. Studios don't want to get in bed with them. And then people suggest MS just start up its own studio...aside from the fact that they have the money, its a terrible idea. They don't know whit about filmmaking. They had to buy Bungie just to get Halo because they couldn't develop a decent game in house.

I am glad this would have sucked anyway.

I don't blame them. I'm not a Halo fan and don't care for that universe. They should do other things instead of this trash.

yea halo is awesome, especially the single player...that sh*t is raw, dont really know why most people dont like the game unless they cant play or have never played the game because almost everyone i know who has played it loves it

I think a Halo movie could be pretty epic. The biggest problem would be getting any kind of emotion out of Master Chief. It's different in the games because you're only focused on killing sh*t. But a movie would be difficult. I think it's a descent enough story, and would draw a big crowd because of the game's popularity. It's shame Jackson doesn't want to do it. He'd be one of the only people that could pull it off.

So we've already gone through Spielberg and Jackson, the only one left who's stupid enough to try it is Uwe.

Is there even a plot to the HALO games?

I'll direct an ODST movie, come on lets get this sh*t made Microsoft.

"Is there even a plot to the HALO games?"

Not really, The SP has some sort of story, but it's very weak and generic. The MP is just a map-based FPS. TBH, I've never remotely understood the appeal of Halo. Not as a video game, and definitely not as a movie. There's just so little there. Why not just makes a bad ass space marines movie and give it a story. Why does it have to be Halo? Makes no sense to me.
rabid writes:

Well that's pretty obvious. It's a brand name. Good or bad, they'll make millions just by attaching the logo. It's probably a safe bet for whoever chooses to fund it in the end.

Hobo Michael writes:

Gears of war would also suck as a film.

Video game's are not ment to be film's

Just look at the Super Mario Bros. Movie
TH3D4RKKN1GH7 writes:

Well duh video games are not meant to be films they're video games. There's no reason characters created in games can't be translated to films.

Oh and I love Halo lmao, not for the story or anything, I just like the gameplay.
vwkombi writes:

I might be the only poster here who actually loves Halo. Adapting the first novel and the first game would've made one hell of a movie.

But adapting 2 and 3 would've been hard because of the weak as f*ck storylines.

MoH writes:

Halo 1 was just a combination of rip offs from movies. By the time Halo 2 came around their combinations of rip offs started to form its own weak story line. Then they just rolled with it and came out with Halo 3. I am a Halo fan I have all the games and books. BUT when Halo first came out it was definetly just a bunch of movie rip offs put together.
