Todd Phillips Talks "Hangover" Sequel

Todd Phillips Talks "Hangover" SequelSubmit Comment
Entertainment Weekly caught up with director Todd Phillips to find out if there has been any movement on the sequel to "The Hangover," the film that earned $277 million to become the highest-grossing R-rated comedy ever.

"You always have those days when you say, 'If we did another one, wouldn't it be funny if...?'" said Phillips about his thoughts during the filming of the first movie. "Then once the movie tested so well, Warner Bros came to me even before it was released and said, 'Let's do another one."

The director is currently shooting his "Due Date" comedy with Robert Downey Jr and "The Hangover" star Zach Galifianakis, but has confirmed that he is also working on the script for "The Hangover," which he is half-way done with.

He refused to give up details, saying only that the sequel will reunite Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms, and Galifianakis, but not for another bachelor-party story.

"What people loved about 'The Hangover' was not Las Vegas or the bachelor party but these three characters," Phillips said. "I think you can take those characters and put them in other situations, and you don't need the sell of Vegas and a bachelor party and all that other stuff."

I would love to see the guys from Old School have a cameo in this, even having them walk past each other or something.., anything!

@ Ari:

Hell yeah! The guys from Old School should have a cameo in every single movie!!!

As for the Hangover sequel, I have an idea. Have them doing crack this time and then walking into the Bronx. That should put them in some very interesting situations...

A sequel would be awesome, The Hangover was hilarious! Zach Galifianakis definitely deserves the more movie roles hes getting too!

You have to hand it to him for recognizing that it's the characters who made the movie and not just the situations. MOst would just take the first and use it as a cookie cutter for a sequel.

Old School cameos would be awesome too.

Here's the plot: The gang takes a trip abroad. Zack Galifinakis gets kidnapped by terrorists and the gang has to try and rescue him. In the meantime, Zack Galifinakis befriends the terrorists and in the end he finds and kills Osama Bin Laden by mistake. Still working on the details but I think it'll be hilarious.

A movie he had a stake in took 277 million and Todd Phillips is still doing something? What a guy!

@victor

there was going to be an Old School sequel, there was even a page on it on IMDB. Old School: Dos or some sh*t, there was rumour they'd go to Spring Break or something.

@PP
That story writes itself!!

WOW, half-way done with the script and the movie came out earlier this year! Was there some time travel involved in the making of this movie?!

Ehhh, maybe if it didn't have that Bradley Cooper guy in it. He's terrible. But Helms and Galifianakis are hysterical.
