Wes Craven to Direct "Scream 4"Submit Comment
BlackBookMag sat down with Neve Campbell to talk about the upcoming fourth installment in the "Scream" franchise. She confirmed that filming will likely begin in April and that Wes Craven will return to direct.

"I'm pretty sure at this stage that Wes [Craven] is back on board to direct and Kevin [Willamson] is definitely writing it. So it is going to be great," she said, adding that she has yet to see the script. "They had to wait for us all to sign on. I suppose that's the way these days!"

This news matches what Bloody-Disgusting learned from their sources. Craven, who directed the first trilogy, will return to take on the second one.

It is what it is. Middling parodic horror schlock. Watchable but ultimately bland. But being watchable is all it needs to surpass most sh*t these days.

I really liked the Scream trilogy (even the third, even though it was the weakest). The first one is a smart horror-comedy that has a really great feel to it.

I've always thought the Screams were creepy because they didn't look like horror movies, they looked like Dawson's Creek.

For some reason, that bright, well-lit, mid-90's style made all the killing and violence seem a little more unsettling, instead of horror movies today where everything is dark and shadowy and tinted blue, even if its the opening scenes and nothing scary is happening.

Glad to hear so many of the original cast and crew are returning for these new movies.

^^Well said. Think that's why I liked Zombieland so much. If Wes Craven is back then so am I.

Here's hoping he negotiated a little more control and final cut in his contract. Because his last dance with the Weinsteins (Cursed, anyone?) was pure torture. I felt so bad for the guy at the time.

I wonder if Craven's movie will continue the trend of Scooby Do "big reveal?" style endings. Because those aren't laughable and lame or anything.

I bet its soundtrack will sound like songs you'd hear on 'Smallville.'

scream was great when it came out, hell even the sequels were good too, good watches, original even and f*ck, it done great. However a 4th? Undoubtedly its going to be based around the most unlucky headf*ck in the horror genre, Sydney Campbell.. i hope they don't pull Dewwy and gale weathers back in because no.3 pretty much ended their involvement in any other movies...

I still never watched Scream 3.
But i thought 1&2 were pretty good.
is 3 any good?
