Disney is Remaking "High School Musical" for ChinaPosted: November 23rd, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Apparently the bootlegging of "High School Musical" in China was so high that Walt Disney Pictures decided to make a "High School Musical" movie specifically for the Chinese audiences. Plus the message of teamwork and optimism is perfect for the Communist country.
"Chinese audiences enjoy great storytelling. 'Disney High School Musical: China' promotes classic values of teamwork, optimism, friendship, pride and the spirit of self discovery which have made 'HSM' a worldwide phenomenon and further cements Disney's position as a family entertainment brand in China," said Stanley Cheung, Disney executive vice president.
"Disney High School Musical: China" is being filmed in Shanghai and features six new actors found from across China. The movie is planned to be released theatrically during the summer of 2010.

How will China react to a bunch of twinks prancing around on a basketball court?

The same way they deal with them in Tiananmen Square... just drive a tank over 'em.

@ Ranger
Fuck, you beat me to the Tianamen Square joke.
In all honesty, i would love to see this movie. It would be interesting to see the problems all Chinese teens face.
I can totally relate to watching people killed by police for no reason and the stress of constant ninja training from a wise old uncle.

high school musical is the bigest load of crap i have ever seen!! What happened to all the GOOD childhood movies we all saw back in the 90's. I'm VERY dissapointed in Disney for adopting such a bucketload of tack! The Acting, singing, dancing AND storyline is Terrible. In fact i feel sorry for the leads. No actually i feel sorry for Efron, Vanessa is a whore who took on this role in hope of fame then tried to throw it all back realising she would now never be cast for a serious role, and deliberately posted pictures of herself naked online insisting she didn't have anything to do with it!!
Bollocks Vanessa, you make your bed of cheese and crap acting, you lie in it!
And Btw, Efron is NOT a heart throb, he's a self obsessed ammateur actor protected by the downfall of standards that is Disney
