Since the third "Meet the Parents" installment, called "Little Fockers," is set to hit theaters on July 30th, 2010, there has been quite a bit of casting announcements for it.
Ben Stiller, Teri Polo, Robert De Niro, Blythe Danner and Owen Wilson are returning. While Jessica Alba, Laura Dern and Harvey Keitel have been added to the cast. But two names missing from the list are Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand, who played Stiller's parents in the sequel.
Sources tell Entertainment Weekly that Hoffman will not return because there was a strife between him and the studio over the size of the part, the scheduling of the days on set and other difficulties.
Hoffman had tentatively agreed to appear in what was to be a very funny cameo at the end of the film. That seems to have now fallen apart, due to either salary issues or scheduling problems, or both. No word on whether Streisand will be used.

Hoffman was always a very good dramatic actor and straightman, but not very funny. Sorry they couldnt work something out though.
My guess is they couldnt afford him.
