Kevin McKidd on Call of Duty and Rome MoviesSubmit Comment
NY Post sat down with actor Kevin McKidd to talk about some of his potential upcoming projects, including big screen versions of the "Call of Duty" video game and "Rome" series.

Last month, Activision Blizzard filed to protect the trademark "Call of Duty" in relation to movies. McKidd, who voiced Captain "Soap" MacTavish in the "Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2" game, has now confirmed that the company is serious about bringing the popular franchise to the big screen.

"They were looking for a rough, Scottish actor in Hollywood they probably couldn't get Gerard Butler, so they got the No. 2 Gerard Butler, me. I had no idea it would be so huge, and now there are talks of a feature film," he said, adding that he would love to be apart of it. "If the script is good, and Gerard isn't available [laughs], then absolutely."

And regarding "Rome," McKidd said: "There is a script that is being shopped and it's supposedly very good, I haven't seen it, but I am definitely going to be a part of the movie."

He went on to say that his character, soldier/politician Lucius Vorenus, is not dead despite what happened in the show. "He very much alive, so that should be a fun story to tell."

Good, about time McKidd gets some more roles instead of being on the shit show Greys Anatomy. Be good to bring Lucius Verenus back, also is the CoD film a WW2 or Modern Warfare film?

He was absolutely epic in Rome. He has such a distinct, intense look to him. If they made a CoD film with McKidd, it'd probably be a MW film instead of WW2.

If he played Soap, then it's definitely Modern Warfare. A Call of Duty movie could be sweet. Its been a while since there was a good war movie in theaters and the characters in modern warfare are badass and would be really entertaining.

Both films sound like good ideas. McKidd will be great in the roles. Wish they could get Keifer Sutherland involved in CoD film even if it is MV.

a CoD movie would be pretty much guarenteed to gernetate a shit ton of movie for the box office no matter how crappy it is..But I think they would do it right, since the game pretty much is the script

a Modern Warfare movie is a pretty pointless idea because the main hook of the single player campaign is the fact that it puts you in all those action moments you've seen in countless action movies and lets you control it. That's the thing about video games is that its interactive, but in a movie you're taken out of it and you're just an observer. Then it's just another generic action movie, it's not like the characters are super fleshed out or anything. It's really pointless.

They planned it a while back, was even on IMDB but fell through, it was gonna be called Dog Soldiers: Fresh Meat! HAha
