The Real Reason Why James Franco is on "General Hospital"Posted: November 13th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
When James Franco (Spider-Man, Pineapple Express) announced that he would be appearing on the soap opera "General Hospital," the career-killing move confused many people in the industry. But now, it appears that his participation is part of a bigger project.
"Yeah, it's for several different things," said Carter, Franco's frequent collaborator. "It was an idea that I posed to him, and it's tied to another film that he and I are working on now. It's not specifically for another project, because I know that he's really enjoying the challenge of working on a soap — it's a very taxing job, and an interesting thing for him to be doing — but it does have to do with another film that he and I are working on."
Carter added that while he can't reveal more about the project, he did confirm that it will be a feature film. "If you ask me, it's a feature film that's gonna be pretty abstract, for a larger audience," he said.
This project is really confusing, so to clarify, Carter told Movieline: "'General Hospital' — or a soap opera in general — is part of the film we're working on, but it's not a giant part of the narrative. It's not going to affect the way the film turns out to be."
While we wait for more details, check out the "General Hospital" promo, featuring Franco.

Excuse my ignorance, but it seems like General Hospital has nothing to with hospitals?

So he's going to star on General Hospital for a while, just so they can cross it over with a movie he's making? maybe he comes alive out of the tv in the Poltergeist remake to kidnap Carol Ann.

@Jeff - do they still make Bon-Bons? Never had one, but every time I watch an old episode of "Married...With Children" it makes me want to try one. [side note] I also wanna band Peggy while she scrubs the floor on Labor Day.

He's not doing GH for the $'s. He's a strong actor, with a career that can survive what some have called 'career-killing.'
Franco hasn't gone to a soap in hopes to make it to the movies one day... he's already there.
He's just a smart, talented guy that wants to spread his acting wings.
'Career-killing' my ass!

franco is a great fuckin actor. it's not suprising that it's part of a bigger project... but even if it wasn't, its really cool that he would do it just to have the experience and broaden his range. a lot of feature actors are spoiled shits, working on a feature is really cush. soap actors face a fuckin 6-day-a-week grind, it's relatively tough. much respect to him
