"Independence Day" Sequel Will be Two FilmsPosted: November 12th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
About a month ago, director Roland Emmerich revealed that was planning to make a sequel to "Independence Day," the Will Smith blockbuster that grossed over $800 million in worldwide ticket sales.
Now, Emmerich has revealed a bit more about the second installment. "What we want to do in the next – it's actually two movies – we want to do a bigger arc," he explained. "The idea is just to continue the story, just continue where it ended. The story will stay firmly on the planet. It's always about earth and that earth gets invaded."
And even though there is still no script, Emmerich said that he and writer Dean Devlin are already working on it. "Oh yeah! There's a story. There's a very really good great story, a very cool one," he said.
Regarding Smith, the director said that when the cameras begin rolling, he will be in front of them. Emmerich also mentioned that he already has the titles for the next two films. "ID4-ever,' Part I and II maybe?," he said.

I liked Stargate and Independence Day for what they were, but his movies after that have never been nearly as fun. Hopefully 2012 will be, but I highly doubt it.

I'd be down for ID4 sequels. If Emmerich can make it nearly as gloriously retarded as 2012 (Emmerich's masterpiece, the zenith of mud-childism ), I'll be happy. Oh, bring back Big Willy or I'll pop a cap in yo ass, Emmerich.

Emmerich can't piece a sentence together properly and he wants to help write this script..
I'd watch em on DVD if they get made.

Then again, with the Scientology brainwash, he may actually be happy to be in the movie.
... Except this time, he'll be welcoming the aliens with arms wide open!

I'm thinking I'll have to pass on these. The first one was okay, but I think trying to make sequals is just stupid for some movies. What kind of a story line could be a sequal for this?

ID-4 Memorial Day!
Maybe they will change it to mexicans running across and invading after all of the space aliens have died. So then it would be
ID4 - The Illegals.

"very really good great story"? Has he heard of grammar? I guess this movie must be AWEsome the way he uses his kiddygrade adjectives..
On another hand: I loved the first one, and looking forward to see a second one.

There is no way its going to be as epic. This is one of those, "don't make a sequel dumbass" movies. Look at Mortal Kombat for instance, enjoyed the first. Threw up the second one.
