Back in May we reported that DreamWorks was working on a deal with Screen Gems to pick up the rights to "Fright Night," in order to remake it. Now comes word that "Mad Men" writer/producer Marti Noxon has been hired to pen the script.
The original "Fright Night," written and directed by Tom Holland in 1985, was a horror comedy about a teenager who discovers that his neighbors are vampires. The new version will keep the comedy/horror tone while modernizing the effects.
Noxon seems like a good fit, considering that she already has some experience with vampire, having previously written and producer for "Buffy Vampire Slayer" and "Angel" TV series.
Check out the theatrical trailer for the original film below.
Alright...I know alot of people blamed her for the isolated vibe in S4 of Buffy...but hey...was still better than everything else on tv at the time and most that's on now!! I'm feeling pretty alright about this!!
Oh no, the vampires will look like cheap frankenstein makeup then.

Buffy and Angel suck a d*ck. this chick just got fired from mad men. and vampire movies written by women suck. I'll leave the problems with remakes for the rest of you.

fright night redeux could be good if done right... but nothing's ever done right in today's Hollywood. most importantly to this projects is the way vampires are being perceived now. chris sarandon kicked ass and i don't wanna watch an awesome classic v tale get updated with all this twilight crap.
sidenote, i loved the vampire costume message in this past Halloween The Office episode. has a point to it, AND was funny.
