Mel Gibson Was Too Short to Play James BondPosted: November 10th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
At the height of his career, Mel Gibson decided that he would love to play James Bond on the big screen. United Artists could not have been any happier with the news, but producer Albert "Cubby" Broccoli deemed him too short to play the secret agent.
"At one point Mel Gibson wanted to play Bond. And Cubby was against it. Cubby first of all had a thing about tall people. Bond had to be tall. And so Mel Gibson was too short," said Bond writer Tom Mankiewicz. "Somebody at (film studio) United Artists said to me, 'Call him and tell him Mel Gibson would be great.' And Cubby said, 'I don't want to make a Mel Gibson movie, I want to make a James Bond movie.'"
Since he couldn't have the role, Gibson went on to do the next best thing. He divorced and is now dating Oksana Grigorieva, who has an 11-year-old son with former 007 star Timothy Dalton.

Something tells me that this kind of comment is refering when Mel Gibson was arrested for making the anti-Semetic comments as he was drunk &driving (which is not a good thing btw. But still, gibson apologized and he withdrew from the scene for quite a while.
Neverheless, it seems to me that in the US or in Europe, saying something bad about the Jews is the worst thing you can do these days, meaning it's the biggest taboo nowadays...Why ? Is it a bible thing ? Or is it about the horrible holocaust during WW II ? I certainly agree that it was the worst abomination of the human kind in modern history but that doesn't givem them the right to be absolved from everything. Nobody is. It's just my opinion.

His nickname should be changed to "Chubby". "Chubby" Broccoli.

Theres a very funny joke in there, but its just to obvious! I dont want to be harsh about Mel because i do like is stuff, its just a shame hes lost the plot abit, ok, alot, everyones entitled to go off the rails as long as they do it behind closed doors where no-one will get hurt, but he really knows what not to do, ive got to give credit where its due! but more of em are coming out of the wood work, Megan Fox will be next, whoops! As a great man once said in a crowded room, "You show me a guy sitting at home stroking himself and i'll show you someone whos not coursing any trouble!" George Carlin.

Hey folks... lighten up. It was a joke, a burn... NO worse than the stuff WE sling on here all the time. The Writer of that piece is matching his readership. Mel couldn't be Bond... so he hooks up with a lady with Bond's kid. What... do you think he sought her out just for that?! Ugh! I think (short little) Mel is a big enough star to take one on the chin like this, and I'll bet he'd get a laugh out of it.
Wear looser underwear for fuck's sake. Your present pair is cutting off the blood to your funny bone(r).

I think he is doing a lot better than if he did bond, all he has to do is compare is bank account to dalton's. OR could be he has money because he steals it all from the jews. Just sayin.

"With an 11-year-old son with former 007 star Timothy Dalton"
I was never under the impression that Timothy Dalton's performance as James Bond was star-worthy. So who's the insult really aimed at here?

I find it amazing that Mel Gibson, being the big star that he is, had it in him to marry a woman with an 11 y/o kid.

His ignorant anti-Semitic comments aside, he already had a franchise in Lethal Weapon. Plus, being short hasn't stopped Tom Cruise from doing Mission Impossible. That's what boxes to stand on and camera tricks are for.

Best way to get a role like Braveheart as well... produce it yourself.
