We just reported that Rachel McAdams (Sherlock Holmes) has recently met with "Spider-Man 4" producers for the role of The Black Cat in the new installment.
Now, British actress Romola Garai (The Other Man, Amazing Grace) tells The Guardian that she has auditioned for some role as well. "[I] put myself 'on tape' for a part in 'Spider-Man 4'," she said. "This is the acting equivalent of the London Marathon in that it's important to try your best as long as you understand that you aren't going to win."
If Garai was trying for the part of The Black Cat, it will take an outstanding audition to beat McAdams, who is said to be the top contender to play the character.
The Black Cat is a skilled (somewhat reformed) cat burglar who is currently an occasional crime fighter and adventurer. She first donned the Black Cat costume in order to break her father out of prison. On the same night, she met Spider-Man, later becoming obsessed with him and even becoming the girlfriend of Peter Parker.

This is all just speculation, she didn't say it was for Black Cat. She was probably auditioning for Venom cause Sam Raimi wants him to be more manly in this installment.
