Jake Gyllenhaal to Star in "Source Code" Sci-Fi ThrillerPosted: November 8th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|

Jake Gyllenhaal (Prince of Persia) is in negotiations to star in the sci-fi thriller "Source Code," which will be directed by Ducan Jones (Moon). Production is slated to begin during the first quarter of next year.
"Source Code" centers on a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown commuter and is forced to live and relive a harrowing train bombing until he can determine who is responsible for it.
Project had originally been set up at Universal in early 2007 when the studio bought Ben Ripley's screenplay and attached Topher Grace (Spider-Man 3) to star. The studio tapped Shane Abbess (Gabriel) to helm last year. Current script includes revises by Billy Ray (State of Play).

could be interesting... but considering Topher Grace was once attached to it means it'll be less than great

I'm down. Moon was amazing, so Jones will get the benefit of the doubt.

Jake Gyllenhaal, or, as I like to call him, Grown-Up Tobey Maguire.

Nope.com, the original Ben Ripley script was amazing (kind of like an intelligent and exciting version of "Deja Vu"), and is at ScriptShadow where they have it as their second favorite script, so this project has some serious potential to be great. Hopefully Billy Ray didn't fuck it up with his rewrite of the script. Along with Duncan Jones (amazing new directing talent) and Gyllenhaal (don't care what others say, he's one of my favorite current actors), this project should be amazing. Can't wait.
