Prophet Muhammad Biopic in the Works, without Muhammad on Screen

Prophet Muhammad Biopic in the Works, without Muhammad on ScreenSubmit Comment
Producer Barrie Osborne (The Matrix, Lord of the Rings) is planning to make a big-screen biopic of the Islamic prophet Muhammad, with a $150 million budget to make this happen.

Osbourne said that he envisions his new movie as "an international epic production aimed at bridging cultures. The film will educate people about the true meaning of Islam."

The untitled film will reportedly feature English-speaking Muslim actors. It is backed by the Qatar-based production company Alnoor Holdings, who have installed the Muslim scholar Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi to oversee all aspects of the shoot. In accordance with Islamic law, the prophet will not actually be depicted on screen.

"The film will shed light on the Prophet's life since before his birth to his death," Ahmed Abdullah Al-Mustafa, Alnoor's chairman, told al-Jazeera. "It will highlight the humanity of Prophet Muhammad."

Osbourne is planning to have the film in front of the cameras by 2011.

The last time a project like this was attempted was in 1976 with "The Message." the result was a film whose production and exhibition were hampered by protests, terror threats and one mass-hostage event that led to a shooting death.

"It will highlight the humanity of Prophet Muhammad."

Great, Islamic propaganda. Leni Riefenstahl would be so proud.

I wonder if they'll whitewash Moe's marriage of a six year old girl and then screwing her at age 9? Or perhaps all the massacre's the guy authorized?

Mohammed was a mass-murdering pedophile. That's a historical FACT.

If you put L. Ron Hubbard and Michael Jackson on a bus, had MJ raping a little kid in the ass and had Hubbard running over random pedestrians while talking in wild-eyed tongues, you'd have Mohammad, King of the Loose Screws.

The only difference is that the bus would contain much, much more talent than Moe.

Trust me, the reason why "The Message" was protested and threated was because it was all about the 'True meaning of Islam'.

Did you know Iran is the only country in the world in which the state pays for sex changes? Of course it is the only choice for homosexuals to not be killed for doing what is naturally to them. This is how Iran says that they have no homosexuals in their country. If a country is this repressed, how can you hope to change the image of a religion? This project is absurd, Christians get off on spreading their message, Muslims are the opposite. People will die from this movie.

Either he's another self righteous white guy trying to save the world (from itself) or he's just another Hwood *sshole trying to make a buck off of a thousand years of blood, sweat, and tears. Either way he's gonna get someone killed releasing this sh*t. I hope the guy knows that he could literally kill the film industry with this movie. Because religion has nothing left to offer other than how to stay backwards, ignorant, indoctrinated, deaf, blind and numb. f*ck that.

Well done people. You have just confirmed that you are no different than most of your ancestors who owned black slaves. You are ignorant and racist. How can you beleive the hype you read on the internet and/or media about Islam, Muslims etc. Try picking up a Quran, read it and then tell me that it is what it's painted out to be. Your thoughts and comments are exactly the reason for why this movie is being made. WorstPreviews needs to do a better job with filtering some nasty comments on here.
The_Zizzler writes:

You cannot make judgements of a religion/faith based on the silly acts of people proclaiming they follow it. There are many f*cked up jews, christians out there too.
Peter Parker writes:

@ The_Zizzler: You almost made a good point there... if it wasn't for the fact that most of what was said here was for humor purposes.

Seriously, don't go down the road of trying to preach here. Everybody knows things aren't so cut and dry.

There's f*cked up people everywhere and of all creeds, we all know that, except Muslims tend to use more bombs!!!

Have a sense of humor, man!
rabid writes:
on November 4th, 2009 at 1:08:19 AM

One could make judgements based on any religion for the very fact that it is a religion. Any organized philosophy that claims to have all the answers just draws in zealots like flies to a shallow latrine. It's all horsesh*t. Muslims/Christians/Hindu... it's all the same stinking load of mullarkey.
The_Zizzler writes:
on November 4th, 2009 at 2:33:56 AM

There is nothing wrong with humor providing it doesn't cross the line and as you can see alot of the above mentioned comments have seriously crossed a line. They are offensive.

If I came on saying racist remarks regarding something else for e.g. Skin color - it would be very insesitive, foolish and undoubtedly offend someone.

People who blow themselves up and/or harm other people in the name of religion is not Islam just like Priests who sexually molest children is not Christianity.

There is a lot of misconception about religion. Personally I believe they are all preaching the same thing but going about it the wrong way. Nobody has the right to tell others they are wrong about what they do, be it murder, rape, being gay etc. We are not the Judge. God is the most merciful and forgiving.

Hopefully the movie can help educate people about what Islam really is. I can assure you it's nothing like the sh*t that is shown on TV and the sh*t you read in the paper etc.
johnny_boy writes:

@zizzler.... we only say these bad things bout muslims cuz they're true. we aint just making sh*t up. muslim want people dead just cuz they dont share they're same belief. they blow up people. kidnap and cut peoples head off. thats why we all hate them. we dont need to get to know them. its all out there by their actions, and yeah some aren't like that, but a large majority out there sure make them seem that way. and one more thing, i have checked out the quaran before and it does say to kill or shed blood(something like that) to all who don't follow the islam religion. just give us all here at WP a reason or two not to express negatively how we feel about these stupid sh*t-for-brains muslims

The_Zizzler writes:
on November 4th, 2009 at 11:14:50 AM

You're wrong - the MAJORITY of muslims are note like that. Also your statement is a contradiction in statement:

A proclaimed muslim who blows himself up and/or carries out any wicked acts in the name of Islam is NOT a muslim.

Just like a proclaimed Christian priest who molests choir boys and/or carries out any wicked acts is NOT a Christian.

I think the inspiration behind making this flick were due to same the reasons I am defending the faith - a lot of media misdirection and miseducation.

This movie will hopefully correctly portray what Islam (peace) is all about.
rabid writes:
on November 4th, 2009 at 1:02:24 PM

Muslims use the term "peace" as propaganda. The only peace they seek is the subjugation of the world to their god and their religion. Their religious tome justifies all sorts of savagery, such as killing or maiming women for not adhering to a primitive code of modesty. Or assaulting and murdering non-muslims. It's a disturbing and crude philosophy evolved from a warlike people.

"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the last day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and his apostle nor acknowledge the religion of truth of the people of the Book until they pay the Jizya with willing submission and feel themselves subdued. Surat At-Tauba 9:29"

Hi, been using the site for years, but 1st time i've commented. As a white Englishman married to an Asian-Muslim, i strongly disagree to most of the comments on here. My in-laws and most of the community i know are people of high morale standards and welcoming to all people of all faiths and cultures. Dont get me wrong, you always have the bad egg, but thats true of any culture/religion. Muslims dont hate the West/Whites, or any of that bull. They are close knit communities and sometimes that is a drawback in our western open cultures. I'm not a fan of any religion, but if you look into Islam it shares alot of the same morale codes as christianity, and Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world. I think this film, if done right, could help. I just have the fear that elements from both sides will ruin it. Or it will get soo much hype, then be a bag of sh*te. I would welcome any comments, as long as they ar'nt stupid mindless bigotry, un-informed rants of fools or western news/culture brainwashed properganda.

As a side note to any christians out there, when the White European Christian Crusaders took the holy land during the crusades, the slaughtered everyone in Jeruselam, Jew, Muslim and Christian. When Saladin took it about a century later he let everyone leave unharmed, plus he washed the christian churches with rose water. Thats not from watching "kingdom of heaven", im a history student.
