"Paranormal Activity" Director's "Area 51" Sparks Bidding War

Paranormal Activity Directors Area 51 Sparks Bidding WarSubmit Comment
"Paranormal Activity" has currently earned $68 million on a $15,000 budget, and it hasn't even hit many of the foreign markets. With so much buzz around the movie, it comes as no surprise that studios would want to capitalize on director Oren Peli's newfound fame.

Representatives from the Creative Artists Agency and IM Global are now scrambling to sell US rights to Peli's next movie, a relatively cheap (under $5 million) sci-fi thriller called "Area 51."

At least six companies, including several major studios, have expressed interest in the film. Paramount, the studio behind "Paranormal," has revealed that it will not be bidding on "Area 51," but it is moving forward with a "Paranormal" sequel.

Peli's new film will be on sale at the American Film Market, scheduled to begin on November 4th, in Santa Monica, California. Stay tuned.

The thriller will flop.

when money replaces talent...well, that's when the talent sucks

Just because a director makes a good movie on no money doesn't mean that every script he writes is gold. READ THE DAMN SCRIPT BEFORE YOU BUY IT. Hollywood is retarded. THIS IS WHY YOU GUYS ARE LOSING MONEY. And you don't take a peice of original thought and clone it a million times, that just makes it less original.

Paramount must be headed by a retarded 3 year old for not wanting to pick up Peli's new movie and going ahead with a sequel that will likely shit on the mastery of the original. Fuck.
