Original "Roger Rabbit" Writers Return for the SequelPosted: October 31st, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Back in April director Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump) revealed that with the advancements in technology and performance capture, he can start thinking about a new "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" film. At the time, he mentioned that the second installment will be based on a completely new idea.
Apparently, it wasn't just talk, because Zemeckis has just told MTV News that he has commissioned a script and has hired Jeffrey Price and Peter Seaman to do the job. Price and Seaman were the writers of the original film.
"There's a script that's being developed," he said. "We've got the original writers that are working on it now — Seaman and Price."
In the original 1988 film, a toon-hating detective is a cartoon rabbit's only hope to prove his innocence when he is accused of murder. The movie went on to earn $330 million in worldwide ticket sales.

I'll take: '2 things required to make a movie!' Alex for $300.

nothing will compare to the original unless he brought back eddie valiant and the original voice for roger rabbit, as well as jessica rabbit too...my guess is that if anything, we should see a prequel idea...about eddie valiant and his brother being hero detectives for many cartoon characters...that's the only way i could see this working for me...but that's just me talkin

There could be genius behind this one if they truly try- there's no reason why there couldnt be a plot involving conflict between different types of animation in Toontown. How would CGI creations be looked at by their 2D peers?
A murder plot could easily be written around that concept and that's all the new Roger Rabbit needs. An effective mystery like the first.
