"Sin City 2" to Begin Filming in 2010

"Sin City 2" to Begin Filming in 2010Submit Comment
Mania spoke to producer Stephen L'Heureux to find out if fans will ever see a sequel to "Sin City" that everyone from Clive Owen to Robert Rodriguez have been promising.

L'Heureux confirmed that "Sin City 2" will go into production in the second half of 2010. But unlike the first movie, which used the graphic novels as the screenplay and story boards, the sequel will be based on an original script by Frank Miller, who will once again co-direct with Rodriguez.

He added that Miller is also working on a screenplay for "Hard Boiled," based on his early 90s comic series. He is attached to direct that as well.

When asked when fans can expect "Hard Boiled" on the big screen, L'Heureux replied: "With 'Sin City' just on the horizon I don't think we'd be able to do it with Frank right away. As simple as 'Sin City' seems, it's a very complex scheduling with all these actors and it's a very demanding shoot to be on a sound stage all day long. We have to space it for Frank. There's also talk, of course, of 'Sin City 3'."

I like my movies choppy, in black and white, and with lots of nudity.

Couldn't have said it better myself, Douche. Miller's stuff was awesome 15-20 years ago. There's a lot of "Sin City" stories that could be adapted into a sequel. Why would he write something new when he lost his creative touch all those years ago? This will at least be as bad as "All Star Batman and Robin", if not worse.

SpookyCupcakes/Ranger always ruin every story I try to read on this site with their commentary. Are there any movie update sites without the ability to comment on the story?

Basement living 30 year old republicans are really ruining my movie news.

@grossfidelity....I agree they are always sending me naked pictures of themselves as well.

i like their comments, just not their bodies.

lol

Half that age, which, in turn, means I couldn't live in a basement, and I'm not affiliated with any U.S. political party, as I live in canada.

I know the "Sin City" universe is Miller's vision, but the studio needs to distance themselves from him as subtly and far away as possible. Co-direct? No thank you. Anyone in the know is aware that Miller had no hand in directing the first "Sin City" at all - Rodriguez simply found his visual style to be useful on the set, so he credited him with that label. (Quentin Tarantino was the only true co-director for that movie.) I don't like how Miller has assumed the title of "filmmaker" these last few years. Not one little bit. As "The Spirit" shows, he's completely derivative (and of his own style, no less) and incapable of bringing a compelling original script to the big screen. My enthusiasm for this movie is sinking quickly.

TeemSalami, I am assuming that pitiful excuse for a comment was directed at me. If not, then disregard the following statements, but if so, then let me assert that, yes, I am a p*ssy. And you know the old saying: you are what you eat. Right, dog taint? Speaking of pussies, yours is probably in need of a wash. Get that thing some vinegar and water stat so you won't be so cranky anymore.

Oh, and I hate liberals. Probably more than Republicans. Your groundless assertion that I am one amuses me more than you can fathom. Oh, and all the homophobic invectives - well said. But being that your name is "TeemSalami", which I can only assume you picked up as a result to your daily attendance to all-male bathhouses , I think you have more rights to those titles than I do.

Oh, and remember: canine semen is said to be the leading cause of bad breath. Remember to swallow sparingly.

@ stfrit01: I was talking about movies, and then that arrogant prick came in and called me a "faggot" simply for stating an opinion that, I guess, was incongruent with his backwoods, myopic logic. Retaliation was the rightful course of action.

Peter Parker writes:

I can't stop thinking how cool it would have been if the Punisher movies had been made "Sin City" style...
Shan writes:
on October 31st, 2009 at 10:06:09 AM

They could never make a proper Punisher film along the lines of Sin City. Sin City had great short stories that were stand alone but based in the same location, that's why it worked.

Garth Ennis' run on the Max Punisher comics was perhaps the best series of graphic novels I have ever read. The conclusion Valley Forge, Valley Forge made me look at everything else I read in a completely new perspective. And Ennis' run was 10 volumes, how the hell could you ever put that into a 2 1/2 hour movie?

Just read the comics.
Peter Parker writes:
on October 31st, 2009 at 11:30:19 AM

@ Shan: Been a fan of the comics for years now and I totally disagree with you there, buddy. The "Sin City" model would fit a "Punisher" movie just perfectly. The dark environment, the violence, the depiction of a rotten society, it all screams out "Punisher". It would just take a good screenwriter to make the adaption, because the right style was already there.
Shan writes:
on October 31st, 2009 at 5:38:55 PM

I get what you're saying Peter Parker (never thought I'd say that out loud..), but my point is that Frank Miller's writing was easy to convey on the screen due to its uncomplicated nature when compared to Ennis' writing on the Punisher (Max titles).

Conveying the image of the comic into a movie is one thing, translating the content into a big screen dialogue is completely different.

But if they do go for SIn City style for another Punisher movie, I'd watch it, but only if they have Dolph Lundgren and The Hoff as Castle and Fury again...
Peter Parker writes:
on November 1st, 2009 at 1:13:42 AM

@ Shan: "but only if they have Dolph Lundgren and The Hoff as Castle and Fury again..." looool

The "Sin Cityed" Punisher movie would certainly take some adaptation, but the end result would be amazing!
We probably agree on one thing, though. It would be better than the 3 Punisher movies we've seen so far, right? I mean, it doesn't take much accomplish that...

This movie will never get made. If it does Rosario Dawson and Britne murphy need to get nude
Porter Montoya writes:

Screw Frank Miller. What do they need him for? To explain the characters and their motives? They're all one-dimensional caricatures from a place in time when it was cool to beat women and arousing to be beaten. Yawn...
