"Transformers 2" is Biggest Selling DVD in Only One WeekPosted: October 29th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" was released on DVD and Blu-ray last Tuesday (October 20th). And even though it has been in stores for only a week, the film has already become the top-selling home entertainment release of the year.
"Transformers 2" has sold a total of 7.5 million units (6.3 million on DVD and 1.2 million on Blu-ray). The film actually sold over 2 million discs just during its first day of release.
The sequel easily debuted at No. 1 on all three charts: the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart, Home Media Magazine's rental chart and the Nielsen VideoScan Blu-ray Disc sales chart.
"The Proposal," the previous week's top seller and renter, slipped to No. 2, with "Monsters vs. Aliens" becoming the week's No. 3 seller and "Land of the Lost" the No. 3 renter.
On the Blu-ray Disc chart, Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" came in second after spending its first two weeks in stores at No. 1.

that piece of crap with the only good about it was the special effects is number one in dvd sales? guess there was someone out there claiming that the audition tape of meg fox washing bay's car as a special feature really helped increase the sales.

Nothing good came out to rival it, and the hopeless mass came out in record numbers to pick up that garbage. The movie only had one good scene, and that was in the Forest.

what i don't get is why, in the forest scene, was Optimus alone? where were the other autobots? i mean, he looks really cool fighting all the decepticons, but where was everyone?

@Foxy I'm with you. If you look on worstpreviews a couple of days ago they had a video post about how transformers should have ended and one topic was y the hell is OP always fighting by his self. I really wanted to c Sideswipe more than just at the beginning slice up a car. And I really wanted to c more of Soundwave too. The voice was amazing, but he's like Megatrons best soldier he should have been kicking ass too.
@VDOD completely agree
Oh, and for the next one please have a diverse number of cars besides GM. It should be like the show with Lambos and Porsches maybe the new Challenger and even the new Mustang

transformers 2 was a bigger disappointment to original fans than it could have ever been...instead we got the twins taking up most of the screen time...and then they add hot girls and sex jokes to a popular kids show...wtf?...that's not transformers at all...did the cartoon movie give humans more screen time than the robots?

@ Vdodson, I don't think that would have mattered much. The fiirst Transformers made about 750 million in theaters and then sold tons of dvds. This one had more action and even for all the it sucks reviews, made 830 million in theaters. By nothing else coming out, it only made it easier but it would have still done those numbers.
@Foxy Yeah that kind of pissed me off too. I hated the fact that Sideswipe only got a lil camera time and Volt too. It's hard to even remember he's in the movie considering his only major part was merging Jetfire with OP.

@Synthetic, I'm an original TF fan and die hard fan as well. Why waste letter after letter ranting and raving about what we didn't get when what we have gotten is Transformers like we never have before. Yeah Michael Bay can be and is an action head but Transformers still remains a great franchise. Enjoy what they giving cause there won't be too many movie adaptations that meet expectations if u want it word for word str8 from the comics or the tv series.

Terminator Salvation was better overall than Transformers 2 and you all fucking know it. And the fact that TF 2 murdered T4 as far as box office goes is a travesty. Salvation was a lot of fun. Can you ever reach the same heights that the first two Terminator fillms got to? No. Hell no. But Salvation damn sure tries and for once McG comes off like a decent filmmaker as opposed to whatever he was in the Charlie's Angels days. And he deserved the chance to continue with a Salvation sequel, but now that won't happen. But we'll get a Revenge Of The Fallen sequel, for whatever that's worth.
But a word of advice Bay: can you try to stay in the same aspect ratio for the whole film this time? That was fucking distracting. Oh, and don't ever bring back the Twins. I guess you were trying to bring some Bad Boys style humor to the film with them but they were a total failure. Perhaps if you had made them as badass as Smith and Lawrence (or even had gone so far as to cast them as the voices for them and to let them write their own stuff), then they would have been a success. But they were not so try something else.

@the Stig I hear what ur saying but that didn't stop them from havin a Mustang in the 1st one. I know GM gets there fair shair of advertising for the Camaro (which is a badass car) but damn get some other companies involved Which reminds me y the hell is Bumblee still not speaking when he clearly spoke in the last one?
I'm just hoping that in the 3rd one Grimlock and the Dinobots make an appearance and get a fair share of screen time.

But you still went to see it right? As a transformers fan the movie was great. Could it have been better god yes but it was still good enough for it make double its budget and regardless of what you think of Bay every single one of his movies have done that

@Stuntastic - you know these vehicle manufacturers pay well to have their cars and trucks in these movies... yes? And if Chev won the bidding war for the first Transformers (and they were smart enough to sign a multi-movie deal)... well, that's how that works.
Look at the Audi Iron Man picks up with the crazed (female) driver and her kids inside... and the R8 Tony drives. Same thing.
