Billy Bob Thornton Joins The Rock in "Faster" ThrillerPosted: October 28th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Billy Bob Thornton has signed on to star opposite Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson in the action/thriller "Faster," which will be directed by George Tillman, Jr (Notorious, Men of Honor, Soul Food).
In the new film, scripted by Joe (Bulletproof) and Tony Gayton (Murder by Numbers), an ex-con (Johnson) sets out to avenge his brother's murder with a deadly to-do list. Trailed by a veteran cop (Thornton) and an egocentric hit man, he methodically races against time to bring those responsible to "justice."
Casting for the hit man is currently underway. The project is scheduled to start principal photography in mid-January.

@Goober - bubble-burster! I want to believe he was inside of her too!
@Destruction - again... I say it's not the Actor's picks (they have to earn a living as well), I think it's just the crap they're OFFERED. But I don't disagree.

Billy bob definitely has more good on his resume than bad, and the Rocks good easily outweighs his bad. The Rock could make shit movies for the next 20 years and he'll still be awesome based on The Rundown. Scorpion King wasn't too bad either, would have been better if it was a little earthier in tone, but WWE productions, what do you expect really? Gridiron Gang was good, Get Smart was funny as hell (small role, but w/e) And even his family movies are watchable. Plus he was a scene stealer in the mediocre Be Cool (which by rights should have been great since Get Shorty is just fucking phenomenal) and Billy Bob? C'mon, Bad Santa and Sling Blade alone make up for anything bad the cat could ever do. Faster will be worth watching

@Eben - good post. Glad to see you mentioned The Rock's role in Be Cool. He was priceless.
As for Billy Bob... Slngblade is one of he best ever. A lot like Bad Santa (I'm one of them), but the Bad News Bears had plenty of laughs as well (the kids were brilliant - and BB played the perfect, washed-up, drunk - like Slusho's Mom).

There are Three different BB Thorntons. There is 1) Slingblade, Monster's Ball (good acting), 2) Bad Santa, Bad News Bears (say or do anything for a laugh), and 3) Armageddon, Friday Night Lights (kind of a puss). I hope to see a combo of the first two Billy Bobs.
