Weather Channel to Show Weather-Related Movies, Like "Deep Blue Sea"

Weather Channel to Show Weather-Related Movies, Like "Deep Blue Sea"Submit Comment
About a year ago, NBC decided to buy The Weather Channel for more money than one would expect a non-entertainment channel to go for. The price was $3.5 billion, but it won't be non-entertainment for long.

The Weather Channel has now announced that for the first time in its 27-year history, it will add movies to its programming schedule. "The Weather Channel Presents" is the name of the new series, which will air every Friday at 8pm, starting with "The Perfect Storm" on October 30th.

All movies will be hosted by TWC meteorologist Jen Carfagno and will have a weather theme. Some of the other movies lined-up are "Misery" and "Deep Blue Sea." According to my sources, both of those flicks had weather in them. So there you go.

But just because movies are being played, it doesn't mean that the weather outside your home will pause. TWC thought of this, and promises to show weather forecasts throughout the film at the lower portion of the screen. If we can add a stock and news tickers, then this will make the perfect movie-watching experience.

well by that logic they can show any movie on that channel then.

how about they show Alive, The Day After Tommorow, The Weather Man, Twister, An Inconvenient Truth?

those are much more obvious films i think.

What about "Back to the Future"? That had some lightning.

Mortal Kombat had Raiden, God of Thunder and Lightning! Protector of Earthrealm!

Yep... nothing I like more during a movie than the f*cking minute-to-minute weather scrolling at the bottom of my screen. Be still my raging boner!

They show some porn. Porn goes really well with weather.

... Actually, porn goes well with everything!

They've been showing movies like "The Perfect Storm" for a while now. I'm fine with that, but, what the f*ck does "Deep Blue Sea" have to do with weather? If I remember correctly, it rained in one scene. The rest of the movie was underwater til the very end. It's like when Black Starz shows movies like "The Fifth Element" cause there's a black president in a small role and almost the entire rest of the cast is white.

So, Music Television stopped showing music videos for dumb reality shows. Now, Weather Channel will stop showing weather for dumb movies. What's next?

dont forget the X-men movies...Storm is basically a wet dream for the Weather Channel

Wait wasn't Deep Blue Sea about the "sharks"? Maybe I got the wrong movie.
Peter Parker writes:

@ SpydrMonkeyakaSPF: Good cathc, I thought the same thing. "Deep Blue Sea" was the one about the smart sharks. They probably meant "Into The Blue"...

Was "Misery" really about weather? I remember it being about an obsessed fan.

If they are going to go the route of "Misery," they should also feature "The Shining."

... or any movie that takes place in Planet Earth, for that matter... lol

Currently it is 37 degrees with patches of fog, with a 85% chance that Wallstreet 2 will suck.

Now to local weather...

They could just re-run 'A Perfect Storm' over and over and over again, because that's about as good an idea as running movies with the fricken weather scrolling along the bottom while you watch!

The people that watch the weather channel all the time... watch it because there is always WEATHER on that channel. People that just flip to the weather channel occasionally do so to check the WEATHER. Either way... no one wants a sh*tty movie with weather updates.
LastActionHero writes:

Does the weather in the movie have to occur on Earth? There was a lot of snow on Hoth, so you could have Empire Strikes Back. (None of the other SW movies are as good as Empire anyway.)
