Robert De Niro and Jude Law in "Thor"?Posted: October 18th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Most of the time comic-book movies have big name actors in them, even if they are not in lead roles. "Superman Returns" has Kevin Spacey, "The Dark Knight" has Christian Bale, "Iron Man" has Robert Downey Jr, "The Incredible Hulk" has Edward Norton. The only movie without any major stars is the upcoming "Thor" film. But director Kenneth Branagh is planning on changing that.
Actor Matthias Schweighofer (Valkyrie) just revealed to GQ magazine that he is in the running for a role in "Thor" and that both Jude Law and Robert De Niro have already joined the cast.
This news is not very surprising, since Branagh likes re-teaming with people he has previously worked with. Tom Hiddleston, who is playing the villain Loki, starred opposite Branagh in the BBC miniseries "Wallander," De Niro was directed by Branagh in "Frankenstein" and Law was directed by Branagh in "Sleuth."

Will Bob De Niro ever be in another good film? What happened to the glory days of Goodfellas, Casino, The Deer Hunter, etc etc. And don't say age, he shouldn't be making shitty movies just because he's older.

@johnney - DeNiro is an Actor's Actor. He just likes to work... not for the prestige.... but for the work. I think it says a lot of his personal character that he's willing to take smaller stuff (bet they're paying him a fortune for this time too... like Brando in Superman), to fill out a good roster.
@Osiris - I don't think it's DeNiro not take good roles anymore as they just don't exist that much anymore. I mean Transformers makes a fortune... does it even need a script?!

There will never be another actor that can match the cinematic presence that De Niro had back in the day. Raging Bull, Casino, and Goodfellas. They just don't make movies like that anymore. Though I will admit having Joe Pesci next to him was pure genius because it launched him to the next stratosphere.

Deniro can play Thor's Hammer and Law can play a beer maiden that gets raped by vikings that pray to Thor.
