MGM Says "Poltergeist" Remake is Still On

MGM Says "Poltergeist" Remake is Still OnSubmit Comment
With all the financial problems that MGM is going through, it comes as no surprise that the studio has removed the "Poltergeist" remake from its release schedule. Originally the film was set to hit theaters on November 24th, 2010 and now its been bumped to an undetermined date.

Some of you may be happy if MGM ended up completely dropping the property, but that's not the case. The studio just contacted Bloody-Disgusting to let them know that the reason the film was pushed back was due to a timing issue.

According to the studio, Vadim Perelman (House of Sand and Fog) will begin shooting "Poltergeist" during the first quarter of 2010. Once things get going, everyone will have a better idea of when it can be completed and released.

So, they're gonna hire just one director this time, right?

well...consider what aslan says in chronicles of narnia...not everything happens the same way twice...but that doesn't mean i'll be watching a remake of this

I thought of the '82 Poltergeist like I have of Star Wars (sorry, I'm old school), RoboCop, The Matrix... the first movie = FAB! All the sequels... ugh.

Wasn't just the kids one or two of the adults died shortly after the movies as well. Not to menion all the strange things that happen on the set, and off the set during filming. I really like the doc*mentary history channel had on these movies. For some reason I think some movies should just be left alone. They don't have to remake everything, leave some as they are and make new ideas.

Yep... pretty hard to top that clown scene from the original ('82) Poltergeist.

I just checked on IMDB FFantasy... I don't anyone else (in a major role) in the original Poltergeist that died close to the filming of the movie. Even little 4' 3" Zelda (the Psychic) is still around. Even the lady that played Dr. Lesh lasted until 2001. I think it was just the 2 girls that had the misfortune (tragic loses, the both of them).

MGM will be bankrupt before this every gets to the theaters. Someone else will have to pick it up (even IF MGM gets it filmed).
