New "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" Movie is Being DevelopedPosted: October 9th, 2009 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
|
Platinum Dunes producers Brad Fuller and Andrew Form previously stated that the studio will not continue the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" franchise, even though the 2003 remake earned $110 million on a $9 million budget and the 2006 prequel grossed $55 million on a $13 million budget.
Now, Variety is reporting that Twisted Pictures are closing a deal to acquire the rights to it, putting the villains Leatherface and Jigsaw (from "Saw" series) under one roof.
The plan is to contemporize the storyline for a 3D film that would be scripted by Stephen Susco (The Grudge). And just like with "Saw," the studio is already planning to develop multiple "Chainsaw" films.

Sounds good to me. I love this kind of horror schlock. The recent TCM comic books have had some really good storylines, one in particular about a busload of hippies on acid.

They should just let TCM go. It's practically the same plot over and over again and Leatherface is boring as fuck. At least, Jason Voorhees was seen in different avatars: Human serial killer, undead serial killer, undead serial killer as a New York tourist, demonic transferable spirit, technologically upgraded undead killer, and lately, tunnel rat.

Every single producer should kill themselves, film it and then distribute that. Sure to make a lot of money.

I really hate that the studios are deciding what's going to be 3D before they even have a plot picked out.

not in this economic climate. Until the market bounces back, the studios will only be taking safe bets.

Well, as a person who respects great movies, Im really excited about the big move for all of these "remakes" of horror movies. I have a personal grudge against "PG-13" horror movies so if this is the only way to get R rated horror movies in theaters, so be it. No one else is really creating any good R-rated horror stories. Yes, they are milking it. But, just enjoy.

Leatherface in 3D, that's just what I've been craving. I haven't been able to sleep all week because I couldn't understand why they haven't done this yet. I mean it makes all the sense in the world right? FU Hollywood! 3D ain't the wave of the future, its a relic from the past. This is what happens when producers and Hwood execs just stop caring! Next stop, Smellovision.

But seriously, is there any fucking shame in the movie industry anymore?
The original was fantastic. So they turn it into a lackluster remake.
Now we get a fucking gore-porn (it's like snuff, only not awesome because it's fake) remake, dumb down MTV version in 3D.
I have a fucking idea. A Casablanca remake with Zac Efron and Miley Cyrus, set in Miami in 3D. Now where the fuck is my thirty million and gold elephant?

I HATE the idea of all this 3D shit. Damn Bloody Valentine, look what you started. Horror films should not be 3D, it just annoying.

The only thing that could even remotely possibly work in 3D is Deadpool but only for breaking the fourth wall and and really gory fight scenes.
